    > Jiricek, the No. 6 pick in the 2022 NHL draft, believes he’s NHL-ready after spending last season in the AHL. That’s why the relationship has become strained, and it’s why Jiricek bears watching over the next few days and weeks.

    >“I played good hockey in the NHL,” Jiricek told The Athletic Friday. “I’m an NHL player right now. That’s my opinion, that I should be in the NHL right now.

    >“I see guys from the same draft, like Simon Nemec (in New Jersey) and (Kevin) Korchinski (in Chicago) … they get a chance on the power play. They play a ton of minutes in the NHL. Those are different teams, so different situations, but I can compare with them. I just want a chance to play like that.”

    > “They told me the last game was not good enough for me,” Jiricek said. “I told them I don’t think so, but that’s your opinion. I was out of the lineup after that. A whole month now, it feels like I haven’t played.”

    > There was concern that Jiricek might consider not reporting to Cleveland, but he arrived on Friday and played for the Monsters on Saturday. What’s next, however, is unclear.

We drafted him in 22’ with the expectation he’ll be a franchise stalwart now we’re going to have questions if he’ll even be in the organization next season if he tries to force his way out

This is a non story. Every single player who has ever been sent down is frustrated at having been sent down. Even if they understand it they still hate it. Once Peeke and Boqvist are gone he will never get sent down ever again.

When do we start sneaking “Jarmo Out” signs into games?

  5. NontransferableApe

Yea telling jiricek to get a place and then sending him to Cleveland and yo-yoing him back and forth is a great idea. Jesus Christ.

Jarmo needs to go. We need a front off who can actually build long term. Jarmo is incapable of thinking long term

  6. tailford07

Absolute malpractice to keep doing this to him because the GM absolutely botched the roster construction. Provorov and Bean are the only regular defensemen with moveable contracts and they don’t even play the same side as Jiricek. What did they THINK was going to happen when they gave Gudbranson four years, Peeke and Boqvist three year extension, and then still gave Severson an EIGHT YEAR contract? Jarmo is a terrorist.

Tbh I don’t think it’s that big of an issue that he plays in Cleveland. Getting 25+ minutes a night, PP and PK time, and being on a top 5 AHL team would be great for him

I think the bigger issue was they kept swapping him between Cleveland and Columbus. They needed to just keep him at one and let him play

  8. Sloane_Kettering

I swear portzline roots for the jackets to be bad so he can have more clickbait headlines

  9. NovaGold

The current regime is insufferable. Fire Jarmo and JD into the fucking sun at this point.

  10. thecbjfan

Various changes need to be made that require a new gm, owner, coaching staff.

We might get shit where other young players start hating it here

  11. Fingar-Bangar

The train goes further and further off the rails every day. Dump Jarmo and sell the team to an owner that cares

  12. Fabresque_

This was my main concern is that Jarmo is yet again ruining a relationship with an important piece because of business decisions.

People on here have been saying constantly that “it’s fine” that he gets moved around. I’m not saying it isn’t, but when you get told to “Get a house in Columbus”, then a day letter get sent back, it’s tiring. When you get moved halfway across the continent, it’s tiring.

This isn’t a player thing it’s a human being thing. They have told him he deserves to play in the league yet refuse to give him those minutes. How are we any better off with Provorov, Severson, Bean, Peeke and Gudbranson?

  13. Soviet17

I’m generally very level-headed but if this FO alienates Jiricek then they all need to be dumped into Lake Erie by tonight.

  14. This fucking sucks. Let him play. We suck anyway. No sense in pissing off all our future players. Done this shit to him and KJ this season. Everybody in the FO needs to get the fuck out of here

  15. CBJFAN38

I agree, I said the same thing when he got sent down. This is so hard to watch from the outside. We have talent that we haven’t had maybe ever and we still can’t make the right decisions that are best for there future. He was super consistent when he was up here, way better than a lot of the rostered men at the current moment. It’s sad to see.

  16. Fabresque_

God damn it we should’ve just fired him and JD after the Babcock debacle. I’ve had 0 trust in them to handle any situation since then, but here we are, young player we HAVE to hold onto getting upset, and these two are going into another TDL managing the assets.

  17. Federal_Command8298

Remember when kent Johnson was sent down and didn’t say a damn word and just worked, jiricek shouldn’t complain, he should work.

  18. bjlight1988

Wow, Columbus botching a situation with a player making them want out

Who could have seen that coming

  19. Indyfan200217

I don’t know how you guys do it. I left, but I still enjoy Portzlines articles

  20. mickeyhause

As he should be. This team is completely mismanaging his development and giving him the poorest experience of what the league is. I won’t be surprised if he pulls a gavrikov or Dubois and leaves.

Please, get new management for this team

  21. Weak-Boysenberry3807

Not like we have a solid track record of alienating our talent

  22. ThunderousDemon86

I’d be pissed to if I’m supposed to be the future of the franchise, was told to get a place in Columbus, and then get sent down so that Andrew Peeke can play, a guy we can’t even trade for a fucking 7th round pick.

If we are playing Tarasov to “see what we have”, then why not the same with Jiricek? There is no way you can tell me Peeke is better, and Boqvist might be better offensively but he’s made of glass and can’t defend, he’s not exactly Cale Makar.

  23. brunus76

The whole point of being a fan of a shitty team is you’re supposed to laugh and not take anything too seriously while we daydream about a non-shitty future, but this franchise can’t even let us do that. We suck AND our playing isn’t even the most embarrassing part. 🤷‍♂️

  24. DirtyDangles94

For someone who has been underwhelming for the hype around him good to see his ego remained intact. Just what we need, more “me first” mentality. If he were 23 and not an almost invisible presence on the what, 2nd line D?, (even with Werenski and Boqvist out) on the worst defensive team in the league maybe he opinion of himself would be warranted.

  25. There is seriously no good reason to not get him NHL minutes this season.

  26. DIYCenturyGoaler

Is it really that hard to not make noise like this? No other team has even 50% of the drama the Blue Jackets generate. And almost all from the last 18 months is from the front office.

  27. mr_positron

It’s amazing how consistently jarmo screws this stuff up

  28. RonTugMyNuts

“I get it. My daughter wants her own car. She’s 13 years old. It’s the Amazon effect. Everybody wants it now.”
