Hughes and Nemec are gonna be the cornerstones of the defense like Hughes and Hischier are the cornerstones of the forwards. A dynamic offensive threat who pulls you to the edge of your seat when the puck is on their stick and an all-situations player that you trust to be out there up a goal or down a goal because you know they’re gonna make the right play when you need it.
This year might be tough with injuries and miscues but the future is so bright.

Good article. It’s a minor thing but I feel like every time I see Nemec talked about people go out of their way to say some version of he will be solid but unspectacular. It’s a marked difference from Luke where everyone says he’s gonna be a superstar.
Maybe there are just obvious things scouts can see, indicators of eventual potential. But to my completely untrained eye one doesn’t look obviously better than the other.
Pronman for example always rates Luke like top five among all young players and Nemec way down the list. That’s just one guy of course. But the language in this article too reads more like yeah he’s a nice solid player.
I am happy we have him I am just wondering what people see where there seems to be a ceiling on his potential.
