Phil Kessel is a better and cheaper winger
His numbers are way down this year. I get the sharks aren’t a great club but at 2.5m cap hit for a 4th liner is kind of steep.
I don’t see the fit. We have forwards like him already. I would rather get a true centre.

Eh, he’s like a slightly worse but cheaper Iafallo. Could maybe see it if Chevy needs to clear space for a bigger trade but wants to keep the roster mostly intact, so like Iafallo for Barabanov. After Vancouver grabbed Lindholm, we need to be a bit more aggressive and grab someone who moves the needle a bit more I feel.

I agree with the other commenters. We have serious winger depth already and we need a strong center to fill the gaps in either 2nd or 4th line.

I like the guy, but of all the things we need, a depth winger ain’t one of them. In a perfect world, we get a 2C which bumps Vlad down to 4C, Iafallo to L3 and Apple down to L4. That’s all the depth down the wing we could ever want, assuming a depth winger isn’t moved in order to get that 2C.
McGroarty has 2nd line centre written all over him! If they can get him to sign after the frozen four, he’s going to have an impact. If he wants to take the Cutter Gauthier route you can flip him for what you need. His market value is high right now.
