  1. The 2024 NHL Trade Deadline is going to look COMPLETELY different thanks to this deal! What are YOUR thoughts on the Lindholm trade? Which team wins? VAN OR CGY? And what do YOU see the Habs getting for Monahan? I'd LOVE to hear YOUR thoughts! #GravGang #RoadTo75kSUBS

  2. “Something no one is talking” are you being for real everywhere you look people are talking about it

  3. Calgary won the trade, Vancouver will only have Lindholm for this season they will not be able to re-sign him.

  4. Not to mention.. if Lindholm ends up being a rental then we got 5.5M more to allocate to other free agents

  5. They go for the cup, what‘s a late 1st round pick amd meh prospects for that. They got a selke level defensive forward who scores as much or more than kuzmenko. That team scores well already and now they got even better defensively on their top6. That‘s scary. Scoring isnt important when you already have scoring and wanna make your team better. Less goals against while scoring is a good combination for success

  6. Could you imagine trading Sean Monahan at deadline and then getting him back as a UFA this summer @ 3 years x 4 million , that would be the best case scenario imo.

  7. So much for their 2024 draft class. Now THAT'S something "no one is talking about". The Canucks don't have their own draft picks for the first, second, fourth or fifth rounds! Ouch.

  8. I think the thing that none of the hockey talking heads are talking about is that Sean Monahan is probably not the best soon-to-be UFA center available for playoff bound teams. That instead would be Alex Wennberg. If I am a playoff team, I want great defense out of my 3C, plus some playmaking. While Monahan is having a better points season, he has not exactly lit up in recent years. With Wennberg, you get better defense, solid playmaking, and a center who just turned in a solid playoff performance last season. And if the Kraken retain half, the AAV is comparable. The acquiring team is paying maybe 2 2R picks, instead of a king's ransom on a risky player like Monahan.

  9. Monahan isn't a GMs ideal playoff player so I think he gets a 1st but there's a lot of other players a GM would rather acquire than Monahan who put up half his pts on the PP any GM worth their job wouldn't give up a 1st it'll happen and when the team gets bounced in the 1st round I won't be surprised

  10. The issue with Lindholm 1:50 is we have proof he can’t carry a line by himself and that he needs to be carried by high end talent to even get to 82 points per game

  11. if the canucks get out of the first round, they will be picking in the 24-32 range.. in a draft that got depth issues. i dont mind the 1st round pick, they are overrated, and even if they work out, they are 2-4 years away. canucks got elias lindholm and free cap space for next season, pretty good.

  12. Canucks were not fleeced, they didn't have to give up Podkolzin, Lekkerimaki or Willander. They in fact fleeced Calgary for not being forced to give up these players. Good on the Canucks.

  13. You are right, It's funny, we got a 1st pick to bring Monahan in Montréal, and now we might have another one to trade him back 😂

  14. What is the reason why everyone thinks Drury will overpay when he hasn't done this in the past? He's made a few mistakes (Buchnevich, Nemeth, Kane), but in general he's gotten many bargains that have worked out and he hasn't moved any good prospects. Drury has good young players that he's developing. If anything, he has cap space issues. Chytil was a real blow to their future, but not their current season – they've played without him for so long. No, I don't think Drury overpays for Monahan who only has the rest of this season under contract. If he had another couple of years at $1.985M, then he's worth looking at. The NYR have proven over the past month that they are more than a 3rd line center away from a Cup. It would be a waste. Until Drury moves Goodrow and Trouba, the NYR shouldn't be thinking about a Cup. Miller, Kakko and Lafreniere are the future. They'll never be able to replace them. I'd hate to see them make the same mistake they made with JT Miller who easily could have been their 1st line center right now. LGR!!!

  15. Im not a Nucks fan, in fact Im a Nucks hater, but I really like the Lindholm fit. Thats a HUGEMONGOUS improvement for them on the top 6. Yeah, they gave up a lot for a no doubt rental but I don't think they gave up anything they couldn't sacrifice. This trade gets an A from me for both sides.

  16. 1:28 So far in my "travels" I haven't heard anyone say that, but I understand how it looks to them on the surface.

3:55 See, if this was the Benning era, I'd be choked. But I'm willing to bet the Allvin front office knows more than the fans do about Hunter, and they may have decided to use him as trade bait (not filler) in this deal, knowing he might not actually be as good as his numbers indicate. Remember Dane Fox? Exactly. Heck you could even mention Connor Brown here (though he has had a half decent NHL career up until now). He and Dane had a pretty good team mate back in the day.. lol

Canucks really did need a right shot C, and they're getting one who is a faceoff ace.

Another thing this does for the Canucks is it takes the final year of the Kuzmenko deal off the books. That's $5.5 towards Petts and Hronek, if Lindholm isn't re-signed. Allvin has proven that a lot can happen in a short period of time, so who knows what his front office think tank has planned after July 1st.

I remember when Allvin traded Horvat, and then flipped the 1st round pick they got towards part of the Hronek trade. A lot of people chucked a wobbler over that trade. I was not one of those people. I knew the Canucks were getting a much needed right shot D-man who was still improving his game. I didn't think Hronek would be THAT good.

Lots of moving parts in this trade, so we'll just have to see how the season plays out for near term success in Vancouver, as well as what Calgary does with what they've got (moreso long term, really).

  17. If you watch Lindholm"s videos he shoots more time then not right at the goalie..Start picking corners, or bar under and see the difference. Also pressure the goalie by being more in his face. Stop being kind in front of the net..Good luck!!!

  18. The winner of that trade was Montreal given how well Monahan has been playing of late. He's a healthy second line centre who wins faceoffs, backchecks and can be moved to either wing with a scoring touch…. who's salary is that of a third liner, maybe premium 4th liner on some teams. Definitely the belle of the ball here.

  19. Great Video, as usual, Nathan. Do you really think that The Rangers are going to get Sean Monahan? As Fellow Rangers Fans, aren't you also getting sick of Chris Drury Rentals Acquisitions without Signing them? Let me know what you think

  20. It's alot to give up as a rental unless he resigns.
1st+Kuzmenko+2 prospects and 4th might turn into 3rd?

I hope jets get either Tanev or Jenner
Even if means giving up deals like

Jenner for Lucius or Chibrikov +1st/2nd× maybe prospect

As for tanev maybe more if resigns but Heinola+Zhilkin+2nd from Montreal+Wagner/Gustafson.

  21. If they'd got something else besides Lindholm, I wouldn't have minded the trade. But if they top out in the 2nd round of the playoffs and don't or can't resign Lindholm, it's yet another huge lost and a waste of a 1st round draft pick. I know it's a late pick, but a good GM can get a steal there who can be on the roster for 3 years on an ELC. I hope I'm wrong, but after years of misery, thinking the Canucks will go from the bottom to a Cup winner in 1 year would be fantastic but highly unlikely.

  22. Don't forget, the Leafs, the Bruins, the Avs and likely others all really wanted Lindholm so the Canucks had to pay to get him.

  23. I guess Vancouver could have Pettersson, Miller and Lindholm as a 1-2-3 punch down the middle. Doubtful but possible, especially if they need more offense in the playoffs (see Pens with Crosby, Malkin and Kessel on different lines)

  24. Kuzmenko is a future trade chip. He could be another 1st rounder if he becomes the 30+ goal scorer he was last year. It's a sophomore slump, people learned to counter his game this year. Well done Craig. The flames had no chance to re-sign him.

  25. Last year Canucks fans and media wanted everyone traded and new owner, now this year they are already planning the Stanley Cup riots and parade

  26. the part nobody is talking about on this trade is that this is a 1:1 replica of the Tkachuk trade

    Calgary : 1st line forwards

    for

Vancouver: forwards off a career season, defensemen attachment, prospect, first round pick (plus a 4th round too i guess here)

    its the exact same trade
