Lol… oh he was willing to sign, but only for an absurd number that he didn’t earn. Love ya Lindy, but not that much.

  2. Newflyer3

GMCC ain’t taking chances after Johnny buddy. No contract by the deadline and we’re not winning shit, so ur gone, especially for that haul.

  3. canadam

Best case – he doesn’t light in up in Vancouver, he needs to accept a shorter contract for less money in the summer, and he wants to come back and play with his best buddy Marky.

  4. SomeJerkOddball

I believe there was always a shot, the Flames just didn’t want to pay it.

  5. Theflamesfan

Obviously there comes a point where the $$ do not justify the move. That point has been dropping for Lindy for 16 months now.

Conroy is smart for not caving to the pressure when there was a talk of mass exodus from Calgary

  6. I don’t think the Flames were really into signing another big dollar long term contract for an underperforming aging veteran.

I wish him the best in Vancouver and wherever else he ends up!

This guy hasn’t wowed anyone since that one fluke year. Woulda ruined our future signing him for 9+

  8. Shodspartan100

I dont know if it’s just me but I kinda got sad reading that. Not because Lindholm is gone, but rather, because maybe he didn’t want to be traded. Hope he does well in Van.

  9. Expresso_King

Always after the fact! Elias, all the best with your new contract, stay humble and good luck with the Canucks.

  10. BoBonnor

Ok. And we didn’t wanna keep him lol. The best thing for us was always to trade him

  11. roscomikotrain

It’s not too late Elias-7 yrs instead of 8

  12. kissarmygeneral

The guy sure hasn’t played like he wanted to stay here and move the team in a forward projection .

I said in another thread that I see Lindholm as closer to Kadri than Barkov, and his AAV has to be closer to $7 million than $10 million. A 8 year deal with an AAV of $8 million is more than fair, and if he wasn’t willing to accept an offer like that he should be traded.

It doesn’t matter if he was willing to sign a contract with a $9+ million AAV, if he couldn’t agree to a reasonable salary he needed to be traded.

Didn’t even get drafted by his new team, guess they don’t see em as an all-star either.

  15. NerchPotato

We know you would re-sign but we aren’t willing to shell out 9m for a regressing player, no thank you

  16. dherms14

    yea i don’t really care

    1. you wanted 9 mill
    2. we just went through this same thing with chuck and john
    3. we were never winning a cup with this team
    4. Dustin Wolf supremacy *will* come, and that’s the window for a cup

love you lindy, I’m distraught you’re gone, but the franchise *needed* to rebuild. now go beat the coilers and win a cup

  17. wangster71

If he wants to sign in Calgary he can re-sign at the end of the season with the Flames for market value. Then I will believe it.

  18. Storvox

If he continued playing the way he did two years ago? The sure we could be taking about the kind of money he was asking. But dude dropped off a steep cliff once he wasn’t propped up by Johnny and Chucky. Nothing about his play the last two years warranted the kind of money he was rumored to be asking for, especially when our team is already strapped down with enough bad long term contracts.

  19. JRP_964

Stop stop! He was my favourite Flame and this just makes me sad

  20. imaybeacatIRl

« I was always willing to stay »

    Ok, buddy.

  21. FloydLouisCifer

He was offered 9X8 he didn’t sign stop playing us for fools

  22. MonkeySailor

Thank goodness he turned that alleged 8.5M x 8 year deal. Would have been a complete albatross

Buckle up kids, Here’s my entirely unrealistic and fueled by borderline Crack level delirium of insomnia max chaos theory:

Lindy after luring Marky out of Vancouver to come here is now going undercover as a sleeper agent in Vancouver to do the same thing with EP40, after the season he convinces him more swedes = pretty swede team, they both come over in free agency and we become a contender again but now having fleeced the nucks 3 ways to Sunday, hunter goes brr and becomes the next Adam fox as a few people have made comparisons to…

Thus fulfilling the full circle prophecy and breaking the Amharic curse that’s dicked us down the last 2 years and coming full circle.

What prophecy you might ask? Well we drafted Fox knowing he would only play for the rangers, then flipped him to the canes for Zebulon and Hanifin who then became big pieces of the 13-28-19 core Era, which inevitably collapsed and one by one has caused that core to filter out with the last remaining member of the top line being lindy, to the Canucks for a haul that included a young right D taking a similar step in his D+1 year as Adam Fox, none other than hunter brzustewicz… of the kitchener *Rangers*, thus coming full circle and bringing us to salvation and the promised lands at long last.

Thank you for coming to my Ted talk.

PS: not a single syllable of this is serious, if you think otherwise may God save you
