As much as I want a full on rebuild it’s not really viable in the current situation the flame’s salary structure finds itself in (thanks Brad) and I never really thought they would. But this trade proves that Conroy is dedicated to getting younger and focusing on some draft picks and prospects while taking on players who are having bad seasons who could easily show up in a new situation and be productive. Impressive stuff managing to please Team Rebuild and Team Mediocrity all at once.
If he won’t rebuild and wants to remain competitive (which I think is a mistake) that’s fine as long as he continues to move out any pending UFA for futures.
Losing has been okay in the Flames organization for quite some time now.
I’d imagine a lot of this is PR for the team.
As a Canucks fan, I hope they cam turn it around fairly quickly. Hockey is more fun when the Flames and Canucks are good at the same time.
This should be surprising to quite literally nobody lol
