It depends on price and how well he fits in. If he’s great and can be had for a reasonable price because he wants to play with Pettersson, Zadorov can walk and we bring in Tanev on a team friendly contract.
Brzustewicz was not only a B grade prospect. He wasn't signing with the Canucks. They offered him a contract at camp when they singed Mynio and young, we didn't sign then and he hadn't signed 4 months later.

2nd line centers average $5M per. At the top is $5.9. If he wants more, he has to show he's a top line guy which means he has to out play JT Miller.

what if he wants to do a short term contract because his contract year was lackluster ? do you give him say 6 x 1 and basically get another year of service out of him. in return he gets a year on a better team to showcase hmself to league, get another playoff run, and maybe get the bag a year and a bit from now

It'd be nice if we can resign him, they were gonna pay Kuzmenko 5.5 million next year anyway so if we can get Lindholm for say 3 years at 6 million per it's not much extra money wise. If we don't, we don't, there's lots of good stuff going on in Abbotsford these days too.

The truth is: if they re-sign him for a discount, it was a fair trade. If they re-sign for what he’s looking for, it was an overpay that may cost us down the road or May end up looking like a good trade depending if he can bounce back…. If they don’t re-sign him, it was a MASSIVE over pay (unless we win the cup and he’s a key contributor… in which case. Fair trade)

It is far too early to say whether Lindholm should be re-signed… I agree that, if the addition of Lindholm means the Canucks may actually win the Stanley Cup, then who cares if he walks after this season. I think the fact that the likes of Lekkerimaki, Bains, Podkilzin, EP the D, and Wilander all remain Canuck properties as of right now means the team has not totally mortgaged its future for a run this season. If Lindholm is not working out, let him walk – the team has gotten valuable playoff experience this year, and can make some quick adjustments and try again in 24-25 with the core very much still in their prime and under contract.

It is not whether we can sign him it is can we afford him. How much money will be available? OELs buy out kicks in and we lose one good player every year till it is over. Out of players who need to be signed who gets to stay. This is our year to win because OELs buy out will be a issue till it is done. We may never get this chance for years. Management has done miracles but there will have to be some inventive book keeping.
