While I get this meme. He keeps putting out small sections of flames but more keeps popping up here and there. And he’s trying not to use all the extinguisher at once because then it will be harder to put out fire laters if they come up.

We’re always involved in conversations. I’m on the phone every single day trying to find ways to get this team where it needs to be. Although nothing came of those conversations at this time, we’re always laying the groundwork to continue talks as we head into the draft and then free agency. In the meantime, I feel like we’ve really added a great player with ‘guy who will be in the AHL in six months’. We couldn’t be more excited to have ‘guy who will be in the AHL in six months’ with us as we try and make the push in these last few weeks of the season. Fans should feel good about the direction of this franchise.

Just keep this handy and dust it off every trade deadline.

Just feels like outside of the deals for players that wanted to go, Adams has just been holding this cloak in front of the fans, repeating, ‘I’m gonna do somethin! I really am! Just you watch! Gonna do it! Changes are just around the corner! You’ll see!

    *four years later*

    You’ll see! Almost there!

    😐

Has he seriously been in place as GM for four years?

I get the angst. Over a decade and counting without the playoffs is going to turn even the most levelheaded fanbase into a bunch of blabbering lunatics, and Buffalo fans aren’t exactly levelheaded. But it seems like a strange time to turn on Adams. It was pretty much gospel that this team was on the right track during this off-season and while we could quibble about would’ve could’ve should’ve moves that Adams didn’t make over the summer, the fact of the matter is that that there isn’t a whole hell of a lot that he could’ve done to compensate for a core that is underperforming to a man. So maybe that means it’s time to fire the coach? There’s certainly an argument to be made, but the team hasn’t given up and they’ve actually improved in the greatest areas of need (defense and goaltending) vs last year so I think Granato deserves some leeway and at the very least, the chance to see this through until the end of the year.

Simply put, this team is currently behind their expected pace by about 7 points. Given our injury luck, that’s not the end of the world and it just doesn’t seem like the time to pull the plug on the whole thing. The fact that the youngest team in the league is currently slightly underperforming doesn’t mean it’s time to blow it up. Everything that had us excited last year is still in place. We just have to be patient.

Commented in here how ridiculous I thought it was that Adams let Debrincat get traded to Ottawa and then get traded to Detroit and got downvoted to hell. I still stand by the fact that it was GM malpractice to let him get traded to a division rival then traded again to ANOTHER division rival. Anyone short of Dahlin, Samuelson or Quinn should’ve been on the table to bring him in here. And looking at the return Chicago got from OTT and OTT got from DET it seems like he could’ve been had by Adams. But it’s fine cause Adams is a Buffalo native and skated at the hockey outlet in Wheatfield when he was a kid.
