Brutal game and some great goaltending by UPL but fell short. Would’ve won this game with elite defenseman Jacob Bryson helping him out (or without the FanDuel ref crew)
Great effort by the team after the break, despite the result.

The only positive trend for the Sabres in the back half of this season is UPL staying consistent.
Okposo needs to be moved off the first line and second powerplay unit immediately.

Amazing hard work, UPL was great, … exciting to watch. If they keep up this effort, it is headed in right direction
Feel like this team is setting a world record for “most games where you outplay the other team but get goalied and end up with zero points”
I’d love to know the stats, on the last time a team leading in the third was given 2 5on3s and no penalties against. I’d be surprised if that happens more than once a year. Literal opposite of game management, and that’s usually my favorite excuse for refs.
Loss would’ve hurt a lot more if it were a scrub goalie pulling out that kind of performance against us
Oettinger played out of his fucking mind. Stars would’ve been boned without him playing like that tonight. The loss obviously sucks, but I really liked the effort.
UPL played just as good as Oettinger.

I cannot believe Donny showed zero emotion during the penalty parade. If he throws a fit after the trip call on UPL then the next soft penalty doesn’t get called. How isn’t he mad??

Yeah, trying to snipe all game vs top goalies ain’t it. We’re going to say we got goalied again, but it’s to be expected when you can’t create a second chance, or go to the net for screens/deflections.
Someday, we’ll see some meaningful games in November.
Is it unreasonable to think that they get goalied on a somewhat regular basis because they’re not willing to work for high danger scoring chances? Others have pointed out their shot chart. I genuinely can’t recall a Sabres game where their chart had a significant amount of activity on or in the immediate vicinity of the crease.
Coaching staff needs a change for this team to take the next step
Thought cozens looked noticeably better. We could use that.
