Was rooting for the Oilers not to get the record. I was at the games in person both times the record was broken, when the Islander won their 15th in a row and when the Penguins broke that record with their 16th win (they won one more after that). By coincidence both games were in New York, which is why I had the opportunity to see both. It's the only time I've ever seen an important record in person at any sports event I've attended, so I don't want that record to be broken. The Penguins record setting game also had the added bonus of a 5 goal game from Mario Lemieux.
Canadian teams ate again
If it wasn’t for Hill Oilers would have won that game. I’m not even upset the Oilers will bounce back and probably go on another streak.
Oilers played great, but Hill was better. I suddenly don't feel quite as worried about Canada's goaltending for the Olympics now. Him and Skinner 🤌
Might be a good thing the Oilers streak was snapped; they wouldn’t want to be known as the team that won 19 in a row, but then lost in RD-2 or even sooner. Better to focus on staying healthy, earning points for home-ice advantage, getting more minutes for the Bottom Six (to ease the Top Six’s workload) and any prospects they have future plans for.
Buffalo played well enough to win last night, but the size disadvantage and continued faceoff failures doomed them as much as missing on great chances. Dallas looked like Big Bad John fighting off pesky mosquitoes, quite often.
no eichel/theodore….
Unfortunate for Dillon, yes there was head contact, but Acari really skated into him.
Hoping this isn't the same old last half of the season skid that has plagued the Jets for the last few seasons. I had been hopeful that this year was really going to be different.
Still plenty of time to get things back on track for Winnipeg, but they need to turn it around sooner than later.
I think it’s time to give the stars some respect. 3rd overall and winning these ugly games. There are a lot of ugly games in the playoffs and Oettinger looks like he’s on his way back to regular form.
Bruins looked like an AHL team – just watched 1 period and knew they were not interested in winning last night
Oilers have cursed themselves by picking up Perry😉
LOVE your Forkie pen! 🙂
Great work Hockey guy
Philly is back
I don't know the statistics, but it seems that Vegas gets outshot almost every night. Anyone??
Slafkovsky is gonna be scary in a few years
Man I have been following the NHL a long time. I remember when I was a kid watching the islanders take the wins in a row record watching John Tonelli score with less than a minute left to break the tie and give the islanders the wins in a row record. No overtime back then. He had to score and slammed it home on a slap shot on the rush. A moment I’ll always remember. Then a decade later the penguins beat the record by three games. Now for a third time I got to follow another chase that fell short. If could happen again in my life, but doubtful anyone beats pitts record, even with it and shootout benefit we didn’t have in the good old days.
Flyers broke their losing streak. Still can't score goals though.
I like watching those Devils!
Montreal Canadiens?
