Great video man. Keep it up
Luke and Dougie in 3-years… Bettman gonna have to supply nightlights for every team in the Metropolitan division when that reaches it's prime 🙂
Great video for the devils really appreciated
Getting Hamilton & Graves was huge in transforming the defense which has been an issue for the Devils for the last couple of seasons. They bring size which is something the Devils lack on defense as well as experience. Hamilton is a legit offensive defenseman and Graves can play along side him but can also provide help with killing penalties, something that was also an issue last season. Johnathan Bernier also provides help to McKenzie Blackwood where you now have a 1A, 1B goalie tandem that can provide stability on the nights Blackwood rests. If the younger players can take another step in their development this team could have a pretty decent season this year. Not sure if that means they make the playoffs but I am excited none the less.
The most interesting player the team added has to be Jujhar Khaira
Keep on grinding brother! Soon you'll earn as much as an NHL player hehe!
Add tatar to the list to
I’m just going to say it: DYNASTY in the making. I fully expect the Devils to not only MAKE the playoffs this year, but to finish no less than FIFTH in the East. The Metro Division is looking like the toughest in the league, and rivalries that have been a bit dormant over the last decade, are poised to absolutely EXPLODE.
Thanks so much for the video. As a Devil's fan since the day they got to Jersey,
I have certainly had my ups and downs as a fan. Some very low lows, and some exhilaratingly high highs. And now after a down period, this rebuild appears ready to take that next step. I am so excited for the upcoming season. So thank you again for the video! Keep them coming!
Speaking as a Devils fan, I look at Hamilton as a Franchise-altering move. We've been able to get good players to come here via trades, but never in FA. Getting the #1 Defenseman/player in the FA class to sign in NJ is massive.
Dougie is perfect for what we need on our backend. The additions of Graves, Bernier, Tatar and maybe a Tarasenko or someone else makes us a much more competitive team.
The prospects as well put us in position to compete for cups for quite some time.
I’m honestly so happy with the additions the devils got this off-season. I think it may take some time for everyone to get settled in and build some chemistry, but Hamilton and graves on D was for sure a huge win. Not to mention ty smith is an outstanding prospect so far and hopefully he will only get better with the addition of Luke hughes once he’s ready.
Future is bright in nj

Im a die hard devils fan, and I truly think this will our coming out party. Dougie is an absolute game changer. Graves was an amazing pickup and brings the defense we desperately need. Blackwood is one of (if not the best) young goalie in the league. Hischier and Hughes will both be tremendous players. Jack already looks amazing he just needs some winger support and Nico will be in selke talks some day, and is already a great leader with tons of upside. Our prospect pool is top 5 in the league. I think Ty smith has more to show and will be an amazing top 4 dman. Bratt is SOOOOOOO underrated. Janne and Yegor will be great middle six forwards. The Tatar signing is big! Zacha finally broke out. You can call me optimistic, you might be right. Im just pointing out the obvious.
It's a bit strange as a Devils fan to hear someone have a very positive outlook on the team and the prospects. We dont get coverage or praise like that on the regular, so I always feel a bit guarded when someone from the outside provides analysis. With that being said I dont hate it!
In regards to Dougie, and Graves specifically, what they allow the Devils to do is something that they havent been able to do on the back end for years. I'm not talking about actually defending, or contributing offensively either, I'm talking about something more subtle, and thats slotting. These two are capable of logging real actual first line defensive paring minutes which allows Ty and Sevo to slot where they actually belong on a second paring against competition they can be a true positive against. The slotting shifts PK Subban down to the third pairing, where he can maybe milk one more respectable season out of his career. But most importantly, it buys more time for the younger defensive prospects like Bahl, Walsh, and Ohotiuk to really gain more pro hockey experience to make the step up for when PK is gone next season. It allows the Devils to actually develop and not rush some of these kids, which creates depth.
The forwards are tough not to be excited about, and it could end up being an embarrassment of riches that maybe one day could be used to land a big trade for someone named Quinn?! Who knows? But it gives flexibility and leverage to Fitz to make significant moves to land more key pieces as needed.
I'm usually very cautious when about excitement around the team, because we've seen the premature hype that has led to us landing top 10 picks for years, but it truly is hard not to crack a smile when you look at the future here in NJ
Quick note: Hischier is pronounced with a hard R. He's from a more german part of Switzerland rather than french
I speak for all nj fans, we love what fitz did, complete 180 for sure
Yea but our finishing is a huge problem with our forwards. We were competitive with every team but the capitals in our division, outplaying the bruins in every matchup, but couldn’t finish games especially in ot. We need a scorer who takes shots for Hughes the only one who actually let it rip last year was Igor and he’s too young. D will definitely help but we need to score 3 ish goals a game still to win and I don’t see our current roster doing that unless Miles Wood puts the team on his back again. Hopefully Zacha can play like he did in beginning of season, and a fully healthy Nico really helps our PP and goal scoring
As a Devils fan, on paper, I should be thrilled. But my heart for the Devils kind of blackened in 2019-20 and I just can't help feeling a little bitter and cynical. After acquiring Subban and Gusev and drafting Hughes, they were supposed to be a lot better. But they inexplicably fell on their faces and there is a part of me just expecting Hamilton and Graves and everyone else the Devils got to just flop. I just don't trust this team. They have to prove it on the ice before they earn my trust again. I don't even really know why I am this way. I want to believe. I really do. But, I just need to see to believe at this point.
Realistically, though, I know I am being a Negative Nancy. I do think that Hamilton and Graves solidify defense and signing Bernier helps put some veteran presence in goal alongside Blackwood to strengthen the goalie tandem. Tatar being added to the offense is a shot in the arm for the top six, and he came cheap. Overall, I am impressed with Fitz's signings. I just am skeptical too of it being a little too good to be true.
The rumored Carolina offer was actually an 8×7, not an 8×6.2, according to Pagnotta. The issue is that Carolina thinks that their best defenseman is Slavin, not Hamilton, and that they wanted a cap hit that fit with the future Svechnikov and Necas extensions (they're rumored to want term for both). 9M/year for that long was always too much with the guys that they needed to sign.
