Sounds like they’ll be moving to Houston.
There is more information on the PHNX Coyotes podcast and yes I do agree the hour glass is going down and just frustrating but if the team goes then so it be.
While it is not a solution per say I do agree with the idea that you give Phoenix time just not the Coyotes. You take the team, move it to Utah, then what I believe is best is in a year or two the current owners or a new partnership is given 2 years to settle on land, get their Ps and Qs together and then announce a new team based on an expansion timeline. Otherwise this will just be one long death rattle. Since the Jets were given to the City of Winnipeg I stopped the move them bandwagon but I agree we are at the rubber meeting the road point and everything points to the NHL telegraphing a move to SLC.
I feel actually bad for the fans who had to put up with this, with an owner who moved away from the fanbase to Glendale which started the problem in the first place. The chaos that has followed has been an embarrassment.
Ryan Smith wants some of that Olympic $$$
Mormon hockey UNLOCK
I just don’t see how this franchise can continue as is. It could take a year to figure out the whole deal with the trust land. As a hockey fan, I’m so diametrically opposed to this franchise….please flush them down the toilet
Good for the Tempe taxpayers.
1996-1997,the first years of the Yotes,i remember that i loved their colors, was collectioning hockey cards back then, and even if i'm a hardcore Habs fan,it would be a part of my childhood if they go away. This is embarrasing for the NHL.This have to stop,i just hope this settle up.
My heart bleed for those fan. They pay for Merch, they pay for ticket and no owner ever gave a fridge about them😒
Feel really bad for the Coyotes' fans who are the ones who have been suffering for years with subpar team and arena, due to poor ownership and are increasingly likely to lose their team. It may be best in the long run to relocate now and get a new team in a few years, like happened in Minnesota and Winnipeg.
I honestly think that Arizona is going to lose this team. I just dont see a way in which this team, that the state has almost no positivity towards and the fans have a love/hate relationship with stays in any metro area in Arizona. If they dont get an arena pit together and finalized in less than 2 years i dont think the Coyotes are going to be a team in 3 years.
Sadness ensues. The yotes are my favorite team.
Although too many people say Arizona is not a good market, it is foolish to downplay the impact of the team's ownership history. Solid ownership could have fixed the arena situation and put a competitive team on the ice, which would have resulted in much higher attendance and general fandom.
Fans forget that other teams have experience ownership or arena issues, or both. For example, at times in years past NY Islanders and NJ Devils were the topic of relocation talk despite being in a metro area with high population, high disposable income, and large corporations.
I saw the ticket prices for these games at the Mullet Arena. Absolutely insane. Nothing in that rink should be over $100. Gary needs to stop trying to breathe life into this. They are better off playing the remainder of the games in Quebec City.
The problem is that the Coyotes' reputation as a poorly run poverty franchise precedes it. Let's make one thing clear: the voters in Tempe voted against having the Coyotes move in, not against having an NHL team in general. With that kind of reputational baggage, getting any kind of deal made within Arizona state lines is going to be an uphill battle from the start, and it may be one the owners are getting tired of. Long story short, I fully expect the team to move out of Arizona before the decade's up.
Moving to Utah makes the most sense, same conference and division. Houston also can work. Quebec City would be exciting if Phoenix was an eastern team.
Salt Lake City seems to be the answer.
Move Detroit to the Metropolitan division, Columbus to the Central and the Coyotes to Québec in the Atlantic division. I know I know I’m dreaming 🤷🏼♂️
God help me I think I’m becoming a Yotes fan and I want this sorted in Arizona
Time to ditch the area. Move them to Saskatoon, probably a bigger fan base there than AZ.
Another attempt to give my favorite franchise a black eye. Let it play out!
Quebec has a building. Houston has a building. Kansas City has a building.
Quebec is probably out for geographical reasons.
It is time to start taking Houston and Kansas City very seriously.
