Might as well roll the red carpet out for other teams when they skate down the middle in front of Igor. No physicality with defending in front of the net, Chicago had many chances in high danger areas. If this game wasn’t vs the hawks they would’ve lost 5-1

  2. Sjdillon10

Gus has crashed back to earth lately. Early in the season he looked like a steal and now he’s back to playing like his contract suggests

  3. -TheSkyAboveThePort

The Rangers have not lost a game this year in which Lafreniere has scored a goal.

Multiple times in the last few GDTs I tapped out a comment criticizing a Mika play, only to delete it. I trust in him, but booooy is he trying my patience. The way he didn’t celly at all after that goal suggests he’s as frustrated with himself as we are watching him. Hopefully that goal will help him get back on track.

  5. Equivalent_Holiday15

Is the united center popcorn this bad that you resort to throw it at players?

  6. Grouchy-Power-806

Wonder why dickinson fell as he skated to the bench after the hit.

  7. Independent-Switch43

Were the Chi town fans throwing liquids at Mika? I feel like I saw that, followed by flow man wagging his finger in disapproval.

  8. So glad they won this one. Laffy with the game on his stick in OT and couldn’t finish. Woulda overshadowed a night where he was maybe the best Ranger on the ice.

  9. BlackOriginThreshold

Happy with the win but worried about Igor. Quick is the starter imo

  10. Doctor_Freckles

Ugly fucking game, especially in the 3rd, where we resorted back to our lazy, disinterested style of play. That shit is toxic and needs to change. Play 60 minutes of hockey. It’s that simple.

Two points is two points, though. I’ll take it.

Mika needed that goal. Let’s all hope that it’s a catalyst for improved play going forward.

    LET’S GO RANGERS!

I said it in the game thread but I’ll say it here too: I don’t think I’ve ever felt worse after an OT win.

Blew a 2 goal, third period lead to the worst team in hockey. Just a joke

    ⭐ Mika

    ⭐⭐ Kreids

    ⭐⭐⭐ Kurashev

    Who gets the hat?

  14. Nickistheman22

Anyone else notice Mika not giving two shits about his first goal in like how many games?

  15. dcgirl98

Takeaways: A lead is not a time to let up on the gas. It’s time to shut them down. Laffy, Brodz and Kreider showed up. Mika with the OT winner and boy did he need that. Shesty needs to work this out somehow. But I’ll take the win. Back home to Calgary. LGR!

  16. greysfordays

laf is absolutely heating up and I’m really stoked about it

  17. lovefist1

Well giving up a 3-1 lead to win in overtime isn’t ideal, but I’ll take it.

  18. Jay21moose

Love all the Laf can’t finish comments.

We’ve just been noticing them cause of how many opportunities he’s had. He’s going to be a great player, just hope it hits within the next 2 months.

  19. JPmoneyman

Laviolette messing with the lines in the third period was a mistake and he’ll probably be the first to admit it. I know what he was trying to do and it makes sense because Mika absolutely needs to get going and he’s trying things to make that happen but it really killed all of our momentum and allowed Chicago to hang around and get a few chances that they probably don’t get if we just stick to the normal lines. I don’t think he’ll make that mistake again when we have a precarious lead.

  21. dankeykanng

Big brain Rangers threw the game so Mika could get a nice moment

Unfortunately they broke Igor even more in the process

  22. mookyyyy

I kinda feel bad for Igor. it just feels like every game with him in net is always a struggle to get the win. It’s not always on him either including tonight. I still feel like we should keep running with quick for a bit.

  23. greysfordays

so uh we really gotta fucking figure out our power play soon yeah?

  24. Kakko was arguably NYR’s best forward tonight, no reason he shouldn’t be back with 20/93 next game which was one of the best lines in the league at controlling play

if that game doesn’t get Goodrow out of the lineup, then literally nothing will. Guy got absolutely manhandled against the worst team in the NHL, a team that was also missing their best player by a mile. they are not winning in the playoffs with Goodrow on the ice

  25. huskyferretguy1

I’m sorry but this was a loss.

  26. ridgeraider21

Dogshit game by Gus. I’m almost ready to just have Jones be our 6D and Gus our 7.

  27. feedmekombucha

Are we still dooming or can I get back to my delusional happy Rangers fandom?

  28. Large_Squirrel1446

hilarious! too bad we didn’t lose…would’ve been the best smelling salt for this sleepy ass team

  29. inTikiwetrust

Really hope this team is just taking a Miami Heat ‘turn it on for the playoffs’ approach

  30. ItsHeadbangerG

Almost let that one slip away.

Shesty looked confident in his play tonight, and for the most part his performance reflected it. Anyone looking to blame the third on him need to rewind that tape and take a look at those goals. Foligno casually parked in front of net is far more indicative of defensive failure especially with Gus having his fucking BACK to Foligno. That and a redirect is a shot that any netminder playing the sport would be hard pressed to successfully stop. I still %100 think Quick should get next game with the hot hand, but that’s a good dip-the-toe experience for Shesty.

Finally glad to see Kreider and Mika get on the board, and hopefully it leads to the first line coming back to life, there’s only so much the 2nd line can do in any given game. Brodz looking better by the day as well.

    See you Monday.

  31. Anyawnomous

How is this on Igor? None of those shots were stoppable. A screen, a batted in rebound and a deflection. It’s more on the D than Igor.

  32. Krispyford

That was a little rough, huh? I’m taking the 2 and moving on with my night.

  33. jkman61494

I dunno if I’ve seen someone so clutch in every other realm of hockey on special teams and OT but so drunkenly bad at even strength as Mika. It’s zany

  34. toxicvegeta08

    Grading:

    Offense+pk b
Overall a pretty good job. But for a while the team just flopped around or struggled vs pressure. The saddest thing is teams have found a way to mitigate 99% of our pp, pressure panarin and have 2-3 guys on kreider ready to block in front of the net. We definitely picked up in ot though. Mrazek is a tough sob, he hasn’t allowed over 3 goals in ages.

Defense:c-. Mainly the bottom lines. But finally our defense cracked. Played good for big portions but some times we let 4th line jabronis like nick falino fuck us over for ages. I think it’s just a boys took the night off thing though. Pk was slightly shaky as well, needed igor to step up.

Goaltending:a. Igor finally had « that game ». Yeah he had a lot of easy work for big portions of the game but also had a few high danger chances in rapid succession that weren’t just guys chopping at a glove save within the first 2 mins. Hopefully the lasting injury affects, were all that January and December were.

  35. Typical-Ad-6730

On the bright side it’s 2 points and that’s a game the Rangers would historically lose. Every Ranger team for the last 30 years would lose this game.

  36. RhesusMonkey17

I got nothin’ tonight. No witty comments. No snarky remarks.

I’m goin’ to bed. See ya Monday night. G’night y’all.

  37. kravdangle

Doomers trying to explain how each goal was Igors fault as deflections and bouncy rebounds or screens go in after he has a .950 sv% all game

Doomers trying to explain how every single Kakko point is « lucky »

Doomers crying nonstop the team « isnt good » after 1 poor month (every team ever has one)

  38. SilentSaidd

Igor let nothing through the body which is a good sign. A far post snipe through a screen by his own teammate, a rebound in the crease after that same teammate failed to play the body and then a deflection. Those are goals that say more about the team In front of him rather than Igor
