@Flames de Calgary

1. The Flames need to move on Tanev. He's an injury waiting to happen and if he gets hurt they get nothing. They're kind of playing chicken now hoping to up the return they get for him to the maximum, but maybe take a little less to get a deal done now before disaster strikes.

  2. Funny thing is new Jersey had Blackwood and Wedgewood. Now they are desperate for a goalie after letting 2 solid goalies go

  3. As a Cgy fan i sure hope they do not do something stupid and trade Marky and yes i think that would be very, very stupid. I understand the people who want Cgy to tank because that will surely lead to a cup in 5 years want Cgy to trade Him and if they do they def will be bottom of the league. I love Marky and i hope he stays i actually hope Hanifan stays as well as Cgy has looked alot better in 2024 than they did in 2023. Nothing is gauranteed i understand that but the team tankers seem to think We will hit every pick and be great in 5 years it could just as easily turn into our own decade of darkness.Just My cents

  4. The same teams looking for goalies are same ones saying Talbot or any goalie can win you a cup…
Passed on hellebuyck realize now having a top 12 goalie matters.

And the jets have Milic,Divincentiis,Brossoit but having a perennial vezina gives you a better shot then going looking for one

  5. No flames just gonna be the next Chicago. Might as well take what they can get for the goalie

  6. this coming from a canucks fan who lives near and usually works in calgary: I dont think conroy trades him. Im pretty sure conroy is about not letting gaudreau stuff happen again, not doing firesale stuff for the sake of doing fire sale stuff ( flames arent ina rebuild , more like they are just doing proper asst management). Like you said, they are in the hunt for a playoff spot, and additionally he has two years left and a NMC. To me it , besides his high trade value, you just dont trade him right now. Plus the Flames seem like they will have their cake and eat it too: recoup some excellent assets from expiring contracts AND still manage to play meaningful games in march and april.

  7. Yeah let’s get rid of every asset except our most valuable one & keep him so we just barely miss playoffs again.

Also you’re blowing way too much smoke up markstroms ass. He’s mediocre at best

  8. It really doesn’t matter how good the goalie is, if the team in front of him can’t win games goaltending is irrelevant

  9. I think the argument around them being in the thick of the playoff race is moot. Yes they have been playing well over their last few games but Markstrom has stolen a TON of games this year. Without a goalie who leads the league in Goals Saved above expected, the flames underlying numbers have them in the bottom 8 (5v5 goals expected and goals against we are around 24-25). Last night alone, with the Rangers, if Markstrom was not in net this team loses that game 5-0. If Conroy is smart you do try and trade him this year as teams will pay more for more service time, maximize prospects and picks, then be competitive for when the new arena, don't dwaddle and aim for the final wildcard

  10. I hope Markström stays. The Flames aren't so far out they should give up and sell the farm.

  11. I think markstrom actually likes living in and playing for calgary too and may not want to move because of that

  12. As a calgary fan, I would not want to see us trade markstrom. hes got at least another 3 solid years of top level goal tending. I think flames managment realizes this, so I doubt any kind of trade will happen. trade vladar and bring up wolfe next season imo.

  13. Both teams are not in a playoff spot yet but still have legit shots, so why would they make such a deal?
A trade if any, would be more likely with Carolina, and would confirm that Calgary is going "full rebuild" and is blowing up the roster. That would also mean bye bye Hanifin and Tanev.

  14. I think Tavel gets dealt for sure but I think everyone else is entirely dependent on Hanifin’s decision.

If Hanifin signs an extension, we’re a better team, we have less cap space to retain money in a potential Markstrom deal and you signal to the roster you’re still trying to win.

If Hanifin doesn’t sign the extension and is traded, the team is worse, you have the space to retain money in a potential markstrom deal and you signal to the roster you’re not trying to win. If that’s the case, I’m sure Weegar, Coleman and Kadri start to get talked about a lot more.

  15. yo JH, I appreciate your unbiased analysis! Everyone knows you're a big flames fan, but you show lots of love and respect to man other teams. Even bitter rivals like Edm & Van and even the most hated team in the world, the LEAFS….haha gj bro and keep with the quality content!!!

  16. Will the leafs sacrifice one of their core 4 overpaid dummies for a real goaltender? Shocking gossip

  17. Leafs need to get Tanev tho not if Flames asking the earth 🤔 and when Leafs r looking for trades bcoz it’s hockey’s biggest market teams charge extra imho! Ps omg Markstrom is 34 why I think he’s in his late twenty’s late bloomer I guess, yeh netminders can play into their 40’s and still be very productive it’s down hill usually around 35, if they have a young stud in waiting I’d roll the dice if I was Flames for more scoring!

  18. Yes the value is now but why are they trading so much. The team needs some stability, somebody got to stay. The defense in my mind was quite good going into this season but why are they trading all their good players.Yes some players wanted out.Why trade Tanev,Hanifin etc.The goaltending is solid, you have the future with Wolf don't you?

  19. As a rangers fan the last thing I want is to see more of markstrom. Even just 1/2 more games a year is too many. Please no. Dude was stellar last game too against us.

  20. Not even a Flames fan but I’m so excited to see Wolf make it full time in the league. Hopefully he gets more chances soon, been very solid the few starts he’s had this season.

  21. they might just be putting him on the table to get the devils AT the table

  22. As a Devils fan, trading for Markstrom would be a huge mistake for us. He's 33 right now. He doesn't fit the timeline of our contention window. We need a younger goalie like Saros, Gibson, or Gustavsson.

  23. markstrom isnt a goalie, he's a forward. he has the same amount of points as connor brown

  24. If the flames trade Markstrom, they are stupid as fuck. He is the first real #1 goalie we have had in the past 10 years. DO NOT TRADE.
