Leafs wont pay a guy that can shut down opposition, hit and fight. They prefer 4 11million dollar plus twinkle toes up front.
Bertuzzi has been playing very well, hes just getting extremely unlucky.
He'll be the leading scorer come playoffs by accident, probably score 2 or 3 with the puck just bouncing off his face, another couple off his backside
Simon Benoit is a stud! Dude knows his role and does it consistently, night in, night out. Definitely want that guy extended long term. I haven't lost faith in Bertuzzi either. I don't care if his season performance sucks as long as he can find his game in the playoffs. Even though Boston lost in the first round last year, Bertuzzi was a DOG in the playoffs (5 goals, 5 assists, 10 points in 7 games!)
I’d sign Benoit to a 3 x 1M contract. That way u get a cheap player with term and you give him a chance to show some consistency over a couple seasons before giving a more considerable raise. I think this is a win win as before the season, Benoit probably would have given anything just so stay in the NHL
Benoit is RFA, not UFA. He'd be easy to extend. And Bertuzzi just hasn't fit in. He's not a need good shooter. And Leafs don't play his type of game. Time to move on.

Bertuzzi should be a healthy scratch for a couple of games! NOT worth 5 mil. Ross Johnson and Gudas the GOON are in town for ANA. The Leafs need Reavo in the lineup Sat night! I would extend Benoits contract. GO LEAFS GO!!!!
Give Benoit a contract and overpaid bertuzzi maybe sign him for another year for less money
Leafs would be dumb to not extend Benoit. My opinion of Bertuzzi is he works hard but accomplishes very little. I've never seen a player throw more pucks right at the goalies bread basket. He just can't seem to pick a corner or open spot on the net.
Like I said even before the season started, cast Benoit in the right role, and with the right minutes, and Benoit will surprise us. Glad I was right, but now, Brad, do the right thing and sign him forever! Enough with the Klinbergs, and not Soucys. We need a big defence for the playoffs. And go get Tanev, the warrior. Enough with the d-pussies. Bertuzzi will come around with the next coach. The last game should tell everybody what one of the more pressing needs of this team is: coaching!

I think Bert just does not fit in here, on ice and locker room.. We have more of an instagram mentality/culture going on and think he is just a black sheep in the wrong place for him.. I mean we all know how he is and how he plays and whatever is going on with him is more than just a him issue.. Something somewhere in leaf land derailed him. most times the camera is on him or in most pictures he does not look happy.. Personally I think he does not like the way this team functions and whatever on earth the team/coaching philosophy is.. The moment he put on a leafs jersey he played like a ghost of himself and I hardly think that is a coincidence.

Benoit plays the game right hard every shift. Definitely extend him 2 years at 1.25 million per season.
What a problem is bertuzzi is good where around the net in front of the net , keefe does NOT play him that way , he needs to be on that first powerplay Nd set up shop infront of the net but what does keefe do pairs mathews with tavares marner and nylander like how about you make two good powerplay lines not just load up all the brats onto one line

Benoit is a stud, leafs need to resign him for 3yrs at $1.25m or 2yr at $1m. Bertuzzi Is a good player but not under a run and gun style. He needs to grind around the boards hence the playoffs he will shine.
Bert will be fine, give him some more time.

Benoit – much better than expected
That’s a subpar free agent haul.
Leafs should extend him for 8 seasons at $3 Million per season. Lock that up.
$1 Million, even $2 Million is a damn insult for what he brings to the ice.
