Why? Oh why, does the NHL hate people watching their games?

  2. Comfortable-Ad-7158

Pretty bright out on the open seas

    Thoughts? It’s fucking horseshit.

  4. Distinct_Mud_2673

I think it’s bullshit. Let the people watch the games, piracy only exists because you do this shit.

Why I can’t watch a Vancouver game at 1:00am here in Cape Breton? No one can give me an explanation of blackouts that I’ll agree with.

I swear I saw a version of this map where Buffalo had the Niagara region, I remember finding it funny that Toronto didn’t even get their whole peninsula and wondering why Detroit didn’t have some arbitrary slice of the area around Windsor.

  7. SquidMB

I live in Saskatoon and can’t watch Canucks games since they’re blacked out constantly. Fuck blackouts

  8. BakedPlatypus

Thankfully I’m able to tune into games but it’s definitely a stupid concept to limit viewership when they want more people to be fans of the sport. Makes no sense at all.

I’m a Canucks fan living in BC. I can watch Canucks games with my Sportsnet sub (~25$ month).

I would like to be able to watch other teams games occasionally more so the 7 seas does the job for me! I find they cut out quite a bit so I like to have a subscription for reliable coverage of Canucks games

Map data is questionable at best. I live in Winnipeg and still regularly get blacked out from Alberta based games. Yet if Columbus is playing Carolina, you bet I can watch that.

My renewal comes up in 6 months with Rogers.

    ZERO chance I’m renewing Cable.

Off to the Open Seas for me.

I can’t comprehend how stupid this is. I’m in Europe and here we have unlimited access to every game live or a replay on NHL.tv app for $15 a month.

What exactly is the point of a “blackout”?

Why is it so hard to watch the NHL in the country where it originated from? I’m in the USA and here you can pay for something like NHL Center Ice, or NHL TV and get every game. At least that’s how it is the last time I checked.

Yeah it’s money, but what exactly do they accomplish by stopping people from watching games?

Sort of reminds me of Nintendo. They hate when you pirate old games, but they won’t sell them to you in any fashion via Virtual Console or other methods.

    “Stop pirating our games.”

    “Then sell them to us.”

    “No.”

Did they just implement this? I’m on the west coast and have noticed I barely ever get access to oilers games anymore

  15. TrendOffender414

Ottawa is in Ontario, not Quebec

  16. DaveThomasTendies

It’s the reason I watch way less hockey than I use to, I have cable but living in New Brunswick because of work doesn’t allow for much hockey I want to watch.

  17. Shiftt156

Reddit solved this with magic. They used the same magic with the NFL.

Blackout?? What is this blackout you speak of??? My guide on my T.V. says blackout when it’s game time, but they still come in crystal clear…not bad for $10 a month. I get all the games. 😏
