Everyone that called for the goalies heads had no idea what was going on. Ever since we changed our defensive strategy, our team and goalies have been great. Last night vs Philly though, the defense was subpar imo. I think Nico carried us last night. He faced a TON of shots. Way too many. But Philly is just a more physical/scummy team.

But I promise you, a big portion of our poor goaltending stemmed from bad defense. It’s no surprise that as soon as our defense stepped up, our goalies did too

i’ve had faith in Daws ever since 21/22 season when we called upon 7 goalies and the only one who could save anything for us was Daws

I was not a Daws fan when he played for Guelph and the Canadian WJC team. I am glad I was wrong

I really hope this man can stay as a legit starter for the long haul. If we can land Saros and extend him a Saros/Daws tandem sounds amazing.

I’ll be honest, he was always an afterthought and perpetual member of the injury list to me. I might’ve seen one of his games in 21-22, but who knows

Now? I would die for Dawsy

Asked this in another gushing Daws thread: when do we stop worrying about him being “post surgery”.

Don’t get me wrong: he seems like the real deal. So consistent and seems to have so much fun, which I think makes him stand out. I just am a bit worried he’ll hurt himself again.

I didn’t see enough of Daws to hate on him or call for him to go. I love Akira and want him to get more reps (not right now with Daws playing like this and showing signs of being elite as he comes into his own). I just know VV, unfortunately because I really like him, had lost the mental aspect of the game it seemed and even in the terrible system he was out of position and gave up too many rebounds. I think this season it became clear that we had to move on. So for me both things are true- the system is helping the goalies and should have been changed ages ago and VV isn’t our guy to see the Devils realize their potential. I always prefer when we can bring people from our own system so I’m hyped on both Daws and Akira and have been. I hear you though based on this sub.

you’ve been a devils fan starting (checks notes) literally this year and you’re gatekeeping fans who didn’t have blind faith in a guy who had the type of surgery that ends goalies’ career?

  9. ScrewOff_

you made a post 16 days ago saying you became a fan this season

you werent even here since the half nonetheless the beginning.

Keep in mind 23 years old is crazy young for NHL goalies and both he and Schmid are that old. Book has hardly been written on them.

Took Hart until this year to have any consistency and he’s 25. Same with Skinner in Edmonton. Bussi is a promising prospect in Boston and he’s 25 with 0 NHL games under his belt. Our guys have a couple bad games and are “never going to be a starter” when most guys their age haven’t sniffed the NHL.

    Got that dog in him.

    May I join the bandwagon?

I think Nico has played extremely well in this latest run. I’m just hoping if nothing else Nico’s play will prevent the Devils from overpaying for another goalie.
