  1. He’s either having a 47 save shutout or getting lit up for 6 goals against the Rangers

  2. Critical_Gur_7785

Another goalie for Loser Lindy to destroy

  3. zombooze

Daws needs breaks can’t run him into the ground but poulter isn’t exactly someone I thought to replace him lol .every team splits their goalie tandem up to get rest

  4. FlyTheW1988

No way he starts against NYR. He’ll practice with the team between now and Saturday so Daws can have the extra rest before the Board on Sunday.

That or we are truly at the “fuck it” stage of the season.

Uhhhhh tell me how to feel? Have we really lost “that” much faith in Akira?

  6. Radjage

Makes sense to see Poulter up close and practice with the team. Give Schmid more time to find his game, because it looks like he’s doing not well in Utica.

Devils rn: fuck it, let’s see if this one works

Seriously, though, Daws can’t keep starting like this. It’s a lot for a guy that had major surgery less than a year ago

  8. NYDevilsFan

We’re just at the “fuck it” stage and seeing if anything sticks at this point.

  9. I’m glad I didn’t spend that $800 for two ticket

  10. Johnborkowski

Let’s try to beat our record for most goalies in a season. Was it 8 one year?

  11. Gullible_Training773

WTF are even doing anymore? Either we put this kid in cold in our biggest game of the year, or we ride Daws into the ground. Both terrible ideas. Why are we giivng up on Akira this quickly?

  12. Cliff_Pitts

Schmid die-hards are punching air rn.

Truth is we need a solid goaltending tandem NOW. No more time to work out the kinks, and so far this year Schmid has not been confident (or very good). He’s a fine goalie, but he’s in no shape to help us get a WC spot

Ruff can do whatever he wants, but we all know it’s not the goalies at fault it’s the defensive structure.

Play some actual defence and maybe do an ounce of forechecking instead of skating around with the puck firing perimeter shots.

This is probably why Meier is struggling. He scores dirty goals in the part of the ice we rarely ever play in.

Waiting for the “stop pucks, get paid” ad in tomorrow’s classifieds

I think Daws should have sat yesterday, that was a mistake, but at this point, see how he responds. He’s been playing really well, then just got lit up by a shit team. The entire team should, and I emphasize should, be able to get up for a Rangers game, and if he can put the Caps loss behind him and move forward with a solid performance against NY, that’s a great sign.

The reality is this…I think the organization knows that this year is sunk, as even if they make the playoffs (which I don’t think they will), they have no chance of winning a series with their goalie situation right now. I think they realize that they have to spend the rest of the season figuring out what they do with goaltenders next year.

Or maybe they’re just really managing for shit right now. Could be.

This is a brain dead move. Schmid saved our playoff run playing behind competent defense, struggled when playing behind our garbage pre-ASB defense same as VV and Daws, then doesn’t get a shot under the new system, and we call up a rando to back up an overworked starter

  17. vtloncto14

So did they call you akira to play zero games and send him back down?

I suppose he’s waiver exempt but not sure what the strategy is (unless it was purely for him to back daws up over the last handful of games)

  18. gothenburgpig

Guess I as wrong about Schmido starting against the Rags and getting lit up. Must be hard to see what little confidence management has in him.

  19. SubElitePerformance

For those that don’t understand how NHL contracts work

Schmid is up against a **Games Played** limit.

What does this mean? It means that if he stays up much longer, his ELC converts from **waiver-exempt** to **waiver-eligible**.

Basically, VV’s injury has created a situation where **we will lose Schmid for nothing** when he comes off the IR because he will have to pass through waivers to be sent to the AHL.

Schmid has not played a level that has says he deserves to remain in the NHL but it would be incredibly irresponsible of Fitz and Co to lose a salvageable asset because of a contract technicality.

I know last night sucked but please, take a deep breath. This is not a bad thing.

  20. goatgosselin

I never even saw that he was called up, and now he’s going back down

  21. 20PercentChunkier

I worked with Isaac for 3 years in Swift Current. I’m so happy for him and I hope he gets to play during this call up. Such an amazing kid who never once complained about being on a bad team.
