Going into the playoffs where the biggest adversity you’ve faced is an injury or two is nothing. Having the hottest team in the NHL, losing a bunch of games, and the finding a way to win again grows the team.

Obviously, we started way better than everyone expected, and now that’s the expectation? No shot. Having a skid is very important to success in the playoffs. It truly teaches your group how to “figure it out.” This goes for the players and the coaching staff.

i agree, as cliché as it sounds, better now than round 1

And that’s why Demko is part of the leadership group

Make this guy captain so he can finish what Luongo couldn’t

  5. There is nothing good about the losing streak — pay attention to how they are losing. All losses are aren’t created equal. They look AWFUL.

  6. TheFrozenCanadianGuy

That’s true what Demko said. But also Canucks have gone through over 10 years of that part of the game.

  7. Hochey08

Literally every single team in the league has a losing streak at some point in the season lol

Better now than during the playoffs

Adversity makes a great hero arc when we lift the cup.

We are in the “struggling with adversity” portion of our Stanley Cup story. It’s character development by the NHL scriptwriters. 🥰🤩

Thinking about the Minnesota game. They got screwed a couple times and looked genuinely rattled. The 5th goal where Desmith legit had the puck covered and the boys were still arguing with the refs when the 6th goal went in.

I think this teaches the whole team, goalies, coaching staff that when things get crazy we need to calm down.

Our systems are designed to keep the game under our control and when that falls apart we’re in trouble. Hope this makes us better the next time things start to get out of hand.

While the Canucks have been tremendous so far, all the other teams have turned their game up a notch for the playoff push. If the Canucks can’t find this other gear, the losses will pile up and it’ll be another 1st round exit. Can’t start losing momentum now

You lose 4 in a row now so you can learn how NOT to come playoffs.

    Plan the parade.

  14. SociopathicAutobot

« totally fine to lose four in a row, two of them in outright embarrassing fashion and two of them against teams you are trying to prove you’re on the same level as. Completely normal for a team with cup aspirations. »

Don’t piss in my ear and tell me it’s raining, Thatcher.

Kings fan here. No it’s not. 0 outta 10 do not recommend

Yup..the Oil and Sand lose too… so … CHEEEERS!

I have to say, I think Canuck’s fans are really maturing! 10,20,30, years ago a 4 game losing streak would have made everyone push their panic button! I’m glad to see that all great teams need some adversity. Hard stretches will happen, and you want them to happen in the regular season, a 4 game losing streak in the playoffs is a death sentence.

The Canucks coaching crew knows how to bounce back, but not all things can be taught, some need to be learned.

I truly hope it lights a gigantic fire under everyones’ asses. Better to face this now than in the playoffs, but all we can do is hope. 🙂

Its good because the presidents trophy is cursed we dont want that shit

I’m just glad misery has company on this skid. Basically all the top teams in the West are also doing pretty poorly right now…

February Records for Top 6 in West (worst to best):

    Vegas: 3-4-0 = 0.428
    Colorado: 3-4-2 = 0.444
    Canucks: 4-5-1 = 0.450

    Oilers: 4-4-1 = 0.500

    Stars: 4-3-2 = 0.555
    Jets: 5-3-0 = 0.625

Only the Jets are doing decent. Meanwhile the East’s top teams are absolutely surging.

The thing that no one really talks about with adversity, is that it’s a test. And you can fail a test. Every year in the NHL, we see good teams hit adversity and be unable to recover from it.

I’m definitely not saying that this will happen to this team – I think it’s far more likely they rise to the occasion – but it’s not a foregone conclusion that they’ll face this test and come out on top, either.

  22. marcosbowser

Being able to lose a bunch without it endangering our playoff chances is a luxury this team hasn’t had in many years.

  23. CptnCanuck12

To be honest, I don’t like how threatening our offence has been ever since the kuzmenko trade..
