Excellent breakdown. I’ve been curious about his usage.

Really great video. I think Sprong is one of the best depth offensive players in the game. I mean shit, he might even be *the* best offensive depth player in the game. But he’s all offense and doesn’t really seem to have a mind for defense. He just out there sniping bitches all day, every day.

I think that’s totally okay because every team needs its role players and no team can have a roster full of pieces that excel at two-way play. If he really focused on improving his defensive game, he could probably be a consistent top 6 player, maybe something like a DeBrincat-type who is very good offensively and at least reliable defensively, not an outright liability when they’re posted up in the defensive zone.

Regardless of where he goes in his career, I think he certainly has some elite capabilities on offense, and the goals per 60 numbers in the video prove that. And hey, that ain’t bad at all.

I made this video! Haha, thanks for the support. Sprong’s interested me from his time with the Kraken last year given how productive he always seems to be despite barely playing so I had to look into what the reasons behind his low ice time was.

He definitely has all the tools to become even more impactful imo, especially considering he’s still fairly young. I wonder what his next contract will look like!

Like I’ve said elsewhere, he’s a Wish.com version of Vanek: silky mitts, finds open space, lethal release. Doesn’t have as great of vision or passing ability as Vanek, but still better than most.

This video helps surface the differences between Sprong and Fabbri. Sprong has similar average TOI but about 0.5pts higher pts/60 metric. Sprong is one of those missing pieces on a team that wants to make a run to the Cup but needs a bottom six scorer or PP2 boost. If that team has a sufficient amount of defensive players or god-tier goalie, it might be worth it. Create a system for a third or fourth line that limits his liability. Like others have said, though, he tends to flub and mishandle pucks despite his above-average hands.

With Fabbri, you get a player that will play both offensive and defensive roles. Despite his injuries, he still throws himself at players and sacrifices himself to punishing checks from forwards when in the defensive zone in order to advance the puck. Sure, he has a lower pts/60 but not so much as to be discounted in a bottom six scoring role.

All told, it’s a great position to be in as GM when you have so many pieces to play with. Yzerman knows what he wants and is setting [the team up for a Cup run within the next few years](https://motownsignshop.square.site/product/2-pack-stanley-cup-champs-2028-sticker/293?cs=true&cst=custom).

  6. My Kraken friend was heartbroken to lose him. I bet on him being the most underrated acquisition this year, and I’ve been proven right.

Great video describing why sprongs deployment is what it is. So many people here lament on the fact that sprong isn’t given more ice time in the top 6. I’ll refer those people to this video from now on.

Man I really hope we find a way to keep Spronger he’s such a dude

so what you’re saying here is… we’ve got an offensive ace up our sleeves?

Dude this was a sick video. Thanks for sharing; you’ve got some great content overall, and am glad I popped onto Reddit this evening and happened to spot this post. Happily subbed, plowing through a few more videos before I crash for the night.
