A LOT of wishful thinking. The DRW still seem to play at the level of their competition rather than just playing their own game. Recent game against COL was a solid effort by every line even though they were outmatched up and down the bench. Recent game against CHI showed Detroit's vulnerability to play at their opponent's level and were outchanced over and over again by CHI's 4th line. Netminder Reimer was easily that game's #1 star.
You forgot to mention how Detroit has made it this far without drafting in the top 3, despite having a record setting bad season.
AKA Detroit has been screwed over in the draft. Only one other team has fallen back more than Detroit.
I predicted Detroit vs Colorado cup finals this year before preseason. It was like, 18.9% in jest….but now im dying on that hill!

When the playoffs start, there obviously won't be any points for losing in OT. The Wings have 26 losses in regulation or OT. The Bruins have 25. The Bruins are two wins up with an extra game played. They may be 11 points apart in the standings, but they're a lot closer than points would indicate. Combine that with OT records and recent play, it's a coin flip. As a Wings fan, I would LOVE to see that matchup.

Larkin is the epitome of what it means to be a captain of an NHL team. He leads by example on and off the ice. He may not be that dynamic, incredibly gifted goal scorer or playmaker but he outworks everyone other than Hyman lmao but if im being honest, the most impressive player this year has to be Raymond. He is giving me these Datsyuk like vibes other than not breaking ankles. He controls and play when he has the puck so much, its been a pleasure to watch him play.
As a red wings fan, the only thing I want is to make the playoffs. First playoff game in Ford Field for the lions, first playoff game in LCS for the Red WIngs. Story book. If they stand pat, I'm fine with a 1st round knock-out. If they buy a rental (and HIGHLY doubt that, maybe someone already on contract with 2-3 years left), they gotta go further than the 1st round. But just like with the Lions, anything after making the playoffs is gravy. Exceeding expectations.

Kane has always been a decent defensive player. Got to watch him every game with the hawks. I’m not sure where the whole Kane’s all around game isn’t the best came from. Since 2009-2010 Kane has been a great all around. I guess everyone else is getting to watch him play night after night and seeing what we saw in Chicago.

Detroit has been able to beat Boston during the regular season this year and they did beat Boston last year the wings always seem to find a way to lose to the Ottawa senators and the Boston Bruins somehow find a way to lose do the Detroit Red Wings the winds will win that series
The Red Wings do not want the Panthers or Rangers in the first round. Both teams have speed and a fairly aggressive forecheck, which has been a problem for Detroit all year. I think their best shot at advancing to Round 2 is actually playing Boston in Round 1. I think Detroit will have better defensive zone breakouts versus Boston and they've shown this year that they score well on the rush with a one-and-done play. They don't outshoot their opponents often, but they make their shots count when they get them.
The ideal for the Wings would be Boston in the First Round, Toronto in the Second Round, and hope that the third place Metro team (currently Philly) also pulls off the upsets and makes it to the Eastern Conference Finals.

As a wings fan I think Boston would win, but I could see us pushing it to 6 or even 7. We have matched up well against them this season. Then we will be harder to shut down in the playoffs offensively, we get goals from a lot of players.

As a Wings fan, I would love to see the Red Wings make this year's playoffs. even if they go out in the First Round, it doesn't matter too much to me. the fact they even made the playoffs would be good enough for me.

Been a Wings fan since the Whalers moved and they have had some good years and some not so good years. If they punch their ticket to the dance then that will be good enough.
How can you not mention Christian Fischer? Guy has been an absolute workhorse. Can play up and down the lineup, center or wing. Has an offensive touch but has been used defensively. My favorite Wing. Just hope Stevie signs him to a long term deal. I called it last year when he signed that everyone was going to be surprised by him. He’s a guy you win with.
In the past few games, there have been moments of the Wings performing at a level that they have not come close to in the past few years. This is the best this team has looked in long time.
