  1. Hot start for both sides, Moore was playing well his first few shifts but got muscled off the puck by Nazar in Michigan’s end (I think it was Moore that had the turnover), who started the rush and ended in McGroarty scoring.

    Apple for Frank!

Edit: It was Moore that Nazar stole the puck from, but he didn’t quite body him off it like I thought lol just lost the handle: https://twitter.com/umichhockey/status/1763741282222899350

  2. Rinzel dishes it to Snuggerud outside the crease almost getting a nice tip in goal, but Jimmy is promptly speared for his efforts resulting in a Minnesota PP.

Lots of subliminal messaging in that shift

  3. Moore is so fucking fast. Guy just turned a routine neutral zone turnover into a Grade A chance despite the entire Michigan team lurking around. Michigan’s goalie robbed whoever Moore set up.

Before that, Nazar fanned on a one-timer on the PP but then had a nice cross ice feed for what would have been a chance if his teammate controlled the pass.

Good, but not perfect, start for the two of them.

Edit: Here’s the Moore chance, it was Snuggerud that got robbed https://twitter.com/umichhockey/status/1763744160966668539

  4. 2-2 after the 1st period and it was a fun one! Could have easily been four goals for Minnesota if Barczewski doesn’t stonewall a few chances.

Nazar flashed his stickhandling and ability to create/play off the rush, while Moore’s skating was (expectedly) a standout. Should be a fun rest of the game but I unfortunately won’t be able to watch so I’ll grab highlights when I can.

Rinzel I thought was solid overall, not too engaged offensively but seems to take the role of always being the last man back and was good there. Steered a lot of plays away to the perimeter in his own zone and was effective in getting pucks out. Didn’t love his gap control on the Schifsky goal that tied it for Michigan, he kind of backed off the attackers then screened his own goalie trying to block the shot that went in but not an easy play to contain with Nazar and McGroarty flanking either end of Schifsky so meh. Wasn’t great but he had a decent period overall.

  5. Feels like Nazar is impactful almost every shift, whether or not it generates a scoring chance.
