Rangers better have at least one of Vatrano, Duclair, or Tarasenko by the end of the week. Mika needs someone to elevate him or something. Tired of having a useless 1C at even strength.

  2. theeastbranch9

I feel like they played us way differently than the December game, remember the absurd amount of odd man rushes and breakaways last time? Weird

  3. notyetacadaver73

Kakko failed his audition with the BFF, but I don’t know if even Bill Cook, Gordie Howe, Jaromir Jagr or Alex Ovechkin could wake up Mika these days

  4. JPmoneyman

Pretty even game, soft goal by Igor is unfortunate because he played well otherwise. That’s gonna be a tough team to beat in the playoffs but nothing about that game indicates we can’t do it.

  5. spotlitekid

We just not as good as the Panthers right now. Mika is definitely a problem. We need scoring help for sure

  6. njerejeje

People talk about Kreider-Zibanejad as if they’ve just been terrible all year when that’s not entirely true.

The Rangers, at 5v5, are **outscoring opponents 34-23 with the duo on the ice**. Defensively they’ve been incredible, only 23 5v5 goals allowed all year while going up against mainly other teams’ top lines. There’s value in that. They’ve definitely been a net positive this year and a big contributor to us winning, especially early on when KZK allowed like 1 goal through 15 games.

But for a top line on a cup contender, they need to provide more offense. That is clear. Drury’s task is to find a RW that will improve that line’s scoring rate while not sacrificing their legitimately excellent defense.

They absolutely need to get that line to a different gear if they want to make a deep playoff run. But to simply say “kreider & mika suck!!!” is just not accurate, nor do I think they need to be broken up.

  7. Envelopen

Bad bounce off troubas skate, game was really a stalemate, ultimately we just got beat in an untimely fashion. Get another chance at it next game in Florida

  8. ItsHeadbangerG

Welp, lost to the number 1 team in the league, so the disappointment is at least a measured one. That third period was pretty bad. Panthers smothered us in our zone for most of it, idiotic giveaways, and Shesty giving up a very costly goal he %100 should have stopped. Top line’s got some shit to figure out man. I love Mika but dude is not playing anywhere to his abilities. Kreider has been better, and even potted one tonight, but those big boy pants gotta come on if we’re to survive the post season. Others have been calling for the 1st line breakup, and honestly it wouldn’t hurt giving it a try at this point. Oh, and if we can just trebuchet Goodrow the fuck off this team, I’d be eternally grateful.

See you fine folks on Saturday.

  9. sentry_87

Played well. Just a fluky goal and Florida played a great defensive game in the 3rd. Not sure we are a Cup team or not but on the the next one

  10. gleyberhood25

I feel like this loss show drury what we need in the next few days. Excited to see what he pulls off. Loss isn’t the end of the world

  11. Key-Tip-7521

What did vally say about the trade deadline? I’m at the goat rosa’s and no sound during postgame l

  12. mixtapemalibumusk

wouldnt mind seeing Senko in a Rangers jersey Saturday…

  13. elarobot

If anything, this game should be telling Drury that he has make moves to improve the forward corps; this isn’t going to cut it against the stronger teams in the East (leafs, panthers, bruins, canes) specifically in playoff hockey, in a multi game series .

  14. Bornlastnight

What a weak fucking game losing goal let in by Igor

  15. 8teamparlay

Lol I remember in 22 when we got smacked around by a very good Carolina team a bunch in the regular season and everyone just assumed there was no way we could beat them in a playoff series. Let’s see what the deadline gets. Losing to the panthers in March doesn’t mean we’re a lost cause.

  16. the_mair

Honestly this was a very close and solid game against the best team in the NHL. The flukey Igor goal after a missed call sucks but this team can absolutely hang with any other in a 7 game series.

  17. TheGoldenRail87

0-2 in March! Mika still without a 5v5 goal! Kakko with zero points in March! Laf (the bust) without a goal since the 2nd? Quick with a .000 save percentage all month?

This team obviously doesn’t care. Send everyone to the AHL. Trade for Buch and Zucc.

/s for anyone who needs it.

Fairly well played game. Rempe tripping was total bullshit. I think we can hang.

  18. RockyPatella

Likely need to add a couple forwards by Friday, as everybody already knows. But they rarely even used 4th line in third period last few games. That’s not going to make for a long playoff run. You need depth.

  19. didndndiiii

The third goal hit Troubas skate. Joe didn’t see it but it clearly changed direction. Even if it’s a softie that’s tough for goalies to pick up.

  20. slypig17

Had us in hell in the NZ all third. 93 out to lunch until his last shift

  21. ColdYellowGatorade

The Garden was rockin tonight but one thing I keep coming back to with this core is are they good enough? They are really fun to watch but seem to have an incredibly tough time scoring goals 5v5. A hot goalie can carry you in the playoffs but I’m apprehensive to say that’s all the a rangers need. Are a few deadline pieces going to put them over the top? Hard to say.

  22. Famous-Implement-492

We’re going to smoke Detroit in round 1, Philly in round 2, barely edge out the panthers in a 7 game slog to meet the stars in the cup final en route to our 5th Stanley cup. I saw our victory in a dream two years ago, it’s coming. Book it.

  23. will122589

We lost due to Igor giving up the worst goal he has given up all season.

That can’t happen in the playoffs. Thought they played pretty well otherwise. Onto the next one and Florida get the president’s trophy curse as opposed to us

  24. Zero-jiggler

This sub loves to throw igor under the bus. Lets in one softie after a 7-0 .958 month and it’s back to “he’s gonna lose us a playoff series” and “give quick the net”. Absolutely clueless shit.

  25. Direct_Crab6651

I don’t understand the acceptance of losing around this fanbase and the excuses we tell ourselves.

You can’t both play well and also have to rely on your goalie to keep it from being a 6-2 game. People say both on here all time.

You can’t be a good team if you lose to the good teams. When you lose to Columbus and then struggle to beat them, then lose to both Toronto and Florida ….. you are not playing well. Winning is a deodorant to a lot of mistakes that stink. Our win streak covers how bad our top line is or how we give up way too many odd man rushes.

We did this last year non stop ….. the devils were supposedly this really good team full of young talent so losing to them was ok…… and they promptly got bounced easily out of the playoffs in the next round and now have fired their coach. They weren’t good, they surely weren’t good with a crappy AHL goalie ….. they showed that right after us.

If we played clean hard games and lose I am fine, sometimes you just get edged out. The problem is games like tonight ….. it’s 2-2 and the team seemingly retreats and just is happy to get the puck out of the defensive zone and turn it right over. Florida is not some team of super stars, they just play really hard and they are going to hit you. If we played the way they do, not sure if this team doesn’t waltz to a cup. But we don’t play with that fire and sure don’t defend the way they do.

  26. i-owe-shesterkin

I think the most frustrating thing about this game was how it started. You could see in the first period how well this team is capable of playing when they give it 100%, followed by two periods of mostly uninspired and sloppy play which cost us the game. Yes the GWG was a softie but that doesn’t change the fact that our three highest paid offensive players combined were -5 and those three players represent >30% of the cap. 93 and 20 have to pull their weight or we are fucked from a depth/playoffs perspective. /rant over LGR

  27. InternationalHunt738

This was a very winnable game. We didn’t execute. Watching Laviolette post game presser you could just see the disappointment he had in the team. Bad bounces, non-calls, weak calls against…these things are common place for all teams. Anyone blaming Igor is gravely mistaken.

I watched us 3 or 4 times in a row get the puck in our end…skate up ice…get to their blue line and turnover the puck after the score was in florida’s favor. Just trying to be too fancy with a team collapsing and playing for the win. You have to outwork them downlow in those situations and hope for a lucky bounce or a bad mistake by a defender. You are not going to carry it past the blue line when 5 players are at the defensive zone blue line.

Kakko has to finish his chances. Lafreniere has to finish his chances. Trocheck has to finish his chances. Mika has to get chances.

This is what playoff teams are going to do to us. They are going to double team Panarin the second he gets the puck. Someone else is going to have to win the game. If our playoff hopes are riding on 1 player to provide all our offense….this team is going nowhere fast. Living and dying with the success of our PP isn’t a sound strategy.

All this aside…I am pleased with the effort tonight from almost everyone. Thought this and the Toronto game were good hard fought games and the games just didn’t go our way. I think we need more depth …I would argue Goodrow should be taking the bus in Hartford. Really happy for Rempe. Edstrom looks like he could stick around. Cooler had a great game. Brodzinski isn’t the answer at 3C. I don’t even remember hearing his name once.

Close game sucks we lost. On to the next one and let’s see what Drury does before saturday.

  28. BernieManhanders23

Everybody talking about mika and kreider is ridiculous. Soft call on rempe, softer third goal, and a few no calls, one leading directly to a goal. Panarin was non-existent tonight and the Panthers were faster for 60 minutes.

  29. Ldordai

I missed the third. Left when it was 2-2. Based on the reactions, it seems like we held in with the best team in the east and Igor let in a softie which is ok after his cracker of a February. Hank let in softies from time to time too, even during the 2014 season.

First line is def the glaring issue. 2nd 3rd and 4th I wouldn’t really fuck with right now based on what I’m seeing. I liked the checking third line for the two periods I watched. Defense seemed solid, but based on the replays of the third it looks like we tried to turtle. First two goals against I had a hard time finding anything we did wrong, those were pure athleticism.

    Did I miss anything else?

  30. Key-Tip-7521

I was at the game. Despite sitting around “suits” and “guys who aren’t die hards” like all of us and myself, I had a great time. Honestly this game lived up to the hype tbh. So, I’ll make my review
First, I’ll attack this head on. Kaapo Kakko, for those who haven’t seen him play live, and say he sucks, you don’t know hockey yo. I watched his skating, his puck possession, is so nasty good. Hits threw the body around. Just snakebitten. Like late at the end of the game. I’m praying, and probably everyone else that like him, every day and night, he doesn’t get traded. Drury will be a fool if he did it and DOOMERS WILL CALL DRURY THE GOAT FOR TRADING HIM AWAY!

The penalty kill was good which killed off a big power play at the start of the 2nd, the crowd went wild. But, went back on the pp. the refs tonight were very sus. like VERY SUS. Especially on the hooking they led to the gwg. Which Igor needs to save. But, besides that one mistake, he played well.

This was a playoff game. The Panthers puck possession and forechecking killed the rangers. Too many one and done’s and it wasn’t like instagram hockey as vally would say.

I could go on but that’s all I can say. Disappointing in the result. But, I’m firmly confident that the Rangers can beat the panthers. Oh as for the Doomers, better learn Arizona or Salt Lake City bud. Can’t be dooming about this and listening to 12 year olds rant.

Last game until the Trade Deadline. And after that, game on Saturday.

    Onto the Blues

  31. jkman61494

The winning streak was great and all but this was a punch to the gut and you could tell the coach felt it.

The last 2 games were a real test of elite teams in the East and the team responded by scoring 2 5on5 goals in 120 minutes with none of course coming from the “first” line.

I’m honestly still reluctant to see us go all in this year because I do feel we have too many holes to fill. Even if you add a 1RW do we have faith in 93/20. Are we really gonna keep 1 goal Goodrow in the lineup? Can we trust a 56/4 3rd pair? Will 79/8 see their metrics improve?

Not to mention….do we have faith Panarin will do anything in the playoffs?

We are bottom half in 5v5 scoring and I’m sure every line aside from 10/16/13 is an eyesore analytically. Thats a lot of questions for a first place team

  32. theygotsquid

Quietly, Ryan Lindgren has become a real problem. Could be fixed slightly by reducing his ice time and relegating him to the 3rd pair but for some reason this coaching staff has trouble separating players from their longtime partners even with consistently bad results.

  33. Maleficent-Comfort-2

Perhaps I shouldn’t say this but with that hooking call you could say Wes McCauley lost us the game?

  34. Cartersfallguy

These are the games that resemble what will be seen in the playoffs and I was hoping Panarin wouldn’t get swallowed up when space on the ice is hard to come by, but alas he did; again.
