Holy crap. Avs bring in walker, and trade Byram for mittelstadt. Impressive deadline.

  2. TJTrapJesus

Hard to not let Byram’s draft stock and how good he was as a prospect influence thoughts on this trade, but Mittelstadt’s only 25, has been excellent last couple of years, and definitely fills a bigger need for a team trying to capitalize on its Cup window in the next few years. Although Mittelstadt getting to RFA after this year vs. Byram next year is worse.

Noooooo, I’ll never go Mittelstadt Mode again 🙁

  4. Judge_Rhinohold

This one is a headscratcher for Buffalo. They already have Dahlin and Power on D, they need forward depth and Byram is one more concussion away from retirement.

Assuming Mittelstadt can keep up the production he’s had for the last couple seasons this is exactly the trade Colorado needs for the future. Getting rid of an older regressing player in Johansen to set up the trade for a 25 year old Mittelstadt who probably will get 4-5 million this summer along with the cap going up for the next few years. Pretty solid day Colorado is having so far.

Burnaby Joe proving to be better than the Yzerplan at the moment.

as a sabres fan this makes sense from our side…. mitts is great and loved but he’s gonna need a big deal aav wise and a centre spine of thompson cozens and mitts is unlikely to win a cup. buffalo has too many forward prospects and not enough quality NHL defenceman plus krebs now has the opportunity to develop into what mittsy is or a mittsy lite. overall creates roster space, cap flexibility and likely a better defence core while letting mittsy play for a cup

Avs winning the Cup. They were a 2C away and they got a stud in Mittelstadt.

Love this trade. Walker makes up for Bo and we finally have that second line Center. Val comes back on Friday. Gabe might be coming back in the next month. We got much better today.

Move their top scorer for a young dman who’s hurt more often than not. Strange.

Imagine you wake up on this beautiful Wednesday morning, you check the standings to see where your beastly Aves team is in the standings. Next thing you know you get a call from your agent that your are being sent to the place hopes and dreams go to die.

  12. TeaPartiier

Mitts has been playing better the last couple years so the Avs shouldn’t be sry in that regard but they’ll soon see everything isn’t wine and roses. Befuddling, pull your hair out stuff. Thought they should’ve traded him years ago but now they get good value for him in return.

  13. Spiritual_Holiday511

Combine this with the walker trade, and I think the Avs are a much better team now than they were before the trades. Really tidy work, and now you get an RFA 2C for a small d man that is always hurt.

    Damm Mittelstadt….big move for COL

  15. zana120

Holy shit. Does this make buffalo have one of the best young D core in the league? Between Dahlin, Powers, and now Byram. That’s a pretty good core

Dude im so nervous about the outcome of this trade, the Sabres have very little room for error if they want to make the playoffs, they just need 15 out of their last 20 and they’re in.

  17. Unusual-Arm3661

Well the Sabres aren’t going to win any scoring titles any time soon but the hell if we aren’t about to win some Vezina’s!!! UPL! DEVON!

  18. CheeseSplatter

Maybe Buffalo is going to spin this as needing older guys to teach the young-ins
