[Gaffar] On dirait que Tyler Toffoli sera absent de l’alignement ce soir pour le New Jersey pour des raisons commerciales.

Goalie or a first + future trade pieces for a goalie incoming

  2. MartysBetter29

Good. Best case scenario imo is we trade toffoli for a nice package including a 1st, which we then use to help add a player with a bit more term (Chychrun, Buchnevich, Saros come to mind either at TDL or in the summer).

The return better ease my Sharangovich heartache.

    Ravioli ravioli

We will likely no longer have Tyler Toffoli

    Please end my existence

The right move, can’t lose him for nothing! Get that trade ammo we’ll need for a goalie deal at some point.

    Thanks for the goals Tyler!

It’s sad to know that the team couldn’t do more with Toff or have him longer, but this is the right move – assuming a reasonable hefty return.

Shame, I loved what Toffee was bringing here. He did a great job, but if this nets us a quality goalie then I can’t be too upset. Big love wherever ya go, Tyler.

Most likely picks and prospects to use in trade for a goalie in the offseason. No team looking to make a playoff push or deep playoff run is going to trade their proven goalie, assuming Toffoli is just a rental. Here’s where things get interesting. Guentzel will be traded and then all of a sudden there could be a bidding war for Toffoli.

Overall I think it’s the right move. We don’t need scoring wingers that are on the wrong side of 30. We need reliable goaltending and defence, especially goal tending. Toffoli trade could add an enticing piece to help acquire a goalie.

I fear for the mental health of 90% of this sub when we see the potential return for him. Anything short of a 1st, goalie, and a trillion prospects or picks and a bunch of users will jump off a bridge.

eyyyy it’s happened. I hope we got more than a second, but I’m starting to have doubts 😅

Apparently the Kings are the team to watch. Hopefully we get a 1st and Laferriere. Dream lineup next season:

    Palat – Nico – Timo

    Laf – Jack – Bratt

    Holtz – Henrique – Mercer

Lazar – Haula – Nolan Foote

    MacDermid – Bastian

    Dougie – Siegs

    Luke – Marino

    Bahl – Nemec

    Miller

    Saros

    Daws

    Sully as HC.

I really liked Toff and will be sad to see him go. Nervous to see the return, but I think it was probably the right move. His positioning is very strong, but isn’t a great skater. If we signed him for 4 years x $6m, and he loses a step after year 2, it would make Palat’s contract look great.

We need a goalie. It doesn’t matter how many goals we score. If we get a goalie or nice assets (I.e., a 1st) that can go towards a goalie, I can live with the trade.

  14. Here we go. Ready for whatever comes from this

  15. Catagol

Really hope he comes back as a UFA on a 3ish year deal at a decent AAV. Guy’s a total pro.

  16. OgreUAsshole

Good, hopefully we get a nice return for him

  17. jimmycap123

Draft capital to make getting a goalie easier this summer

  18. Satanic_Doge

Sucks to lose him, but it’s the right move. We aren’t making the playoffs, so we get what we can for him.

  19. scarlet_stormTrooper

He gone. Toffoli + Vitek and a 2nd for Ullmark and a 2nd that converts to a 1st if Boston wins the cup

  20. DontDraftSmall

Hate it but it’s the right move for us at this point

  21. voxangelikus

I understand that you have to get something for him rather than nothing if he’s going UFA…. and I understand that the return most likely will not be something that blows anyone away…

But I’d like to take a moment to note that if management recognized that Lindy Ruff was not the guy earlier this season, there’s a good chance this team reverses course and we’re looking to keep Toffoli instead of unload him for whatever serviceable parts we can get. This team has done a lot of good but I honestly think they had a chance to save this season and clung to the Lindy-Love waaaay too long. Instead of Sharangovich or Toffoli we’ll have… who knows what, but hopefully it’s enough to make up for not having either of them.

  22. wonderul31

Trade him for a first and more. Then if he truly likes playing in Jersey he could easily come sign back in the offseason. Maybe like a 5% chance this happens but if it did we would all love Fitz again

  23. I predict a return that leaves us saying, « oh come on, he couldn’t fetch more than that? » Very little has gone the Devils’ way this season.

  24. fixitfeliks

Hopefully this means management has dropped all delusions of a playoff run

  25. HopelessEsq

Man I’m so fucking tired of pretending to be excited about getting a handful of picks. Been though this cycle too many times. Also got word today that NHL shop doesn’t have a stadium series jersey for me after all this time so just a huge fucking bummer of a day.

  26. FreshLeftenant

Man, I love Toffoli. His dad was awesome on the dad’s trip. Hopefully we’re able to get a good return for him.
