@Canucks de Vancouver

Looks like we aren’t getting Guentzel

  2. -Hornswoggler-

Looks like we’ll have to settle for Crosby

  3. Bowiescorvat2

Looks like we’ll be making trades for depth at this point…

Tbh, just glad it’s not Vegas.

Now let’s get out there and get Toffoli (hopefully for a reasonable price)!

Makes me think the holdup to Guentzel was Hoglander. Similar role to Bunting and gives the Penguins someone for next year.

Unfortunately the Canucks don’t have the depth to subtract from the active roster right now or the open cap sheet Carolina does to feel good about an extension.

    Honestly. This is good news.

They should be trying to get a couple middle 6 guys.

Stoked GMPA stuck to his guns and didn’t part with Hog or Lek

  8. Ruilin96

I hope Kyle Dubas love his guys enough that they will take Mikheyev off of our hands

There was no we’d have gotten him without giving up a bluechip prospect like Lekkerimaki or Willander, so I’m fine with this. I rather not mortgage the future for short term success. Our window is opening up and we got young players who are close to stepping in and becoming a big part of this team.

Glad it wasn’t Vegas although now Vegas is probably going to yoink Toffoli from us.

  11. Good I’m sick of the guentzal talk. Now on to the next target.

I’d suggested Garland potentially being one of the pieces you could offer up in a potential Guentzel deal (opposed to a top prospect or Hoglander).

And I was really surprised to see that a *lot* of people wouldn’t have been willing to trade Garland in a Guentzel deal.

Bunting is probably as close to a comparable as you would get to Garland..

If it’s Bunting + Magic Beans for Guentzel.. that’s a home run for Carolina.

Best possible outcome. To move lindholm or Mikheyev would cost us if we were trading for JG

Just glad he’s going out east. Great player but would have been super expensive for us to acquire and then re-sign, and he’ll be 30 at the start of next season.

Better him in Carolina than Vegas.

  16. ImAnAfricanCanuck

I’m fine with that tbh… I would rather us add a powerforward to our top 6 than just a pure goal scorer.

When the playoffs get rough, I’d like to have someone who can rag doll and toe drag on Petey’s line.

Good on PA for not giving in to pressure. Cost was too high and Dubas wasn’t backing down from his asking price. JB would’ve pulled the trigger and threw in Lekkerimaki for some reason.

Glad to see some intelligence in our FO.

Pens fan (Canucks 2nd favorite team) checking in again. Don’t cry too many tears, one of the worst things you could do is overpay for Jake guentzel, unless you happen to also successfully trade for Sidney Crosby. he’s a gamble I wouldn’t personally take at an inflated rate. You guys are gonna be just fine!

  19. DelusionalLeafFan

Justin Holl will be next. Dubas loves his guys

  20. Sweaty-Salad95

    That’s fine, don’t overpay.

    I trust this management.

Wow, that’s strange to say, lol.

Petey: « you ask me to sign early, promising a Guentzal, and now come to me empty handed??! »

i’m fine with that if the price was too crazy i’m glad we didn’t bite. Don’t wanna give up Hog,Lek or Will for a possible rental. Now let’s get Toffoli or hopefully some good depth

  23. UncommonHouseSpider

I’m okay with this. If it worked, great. If it didn’t make sense, I’m fine with our roster. Let’s see how they play when the games really matter.
