    So long Peeker

    Looks like we get Zboril

  2. austinD93

Can’t believe we got that move done wow

  3. Sloane_Kettering

Good trade. Frees up a spot for jiricek. Will appreciate Peeke for eating pucks and being patient while being scratched. He got too much shit imo. Would’ve been a decent bottom pairing guy if they didn’t have gudbranson

People may hate Peeke but he is the perfect 6D/7D like Harrington was. Jarmo just signed him to a contract he has no chance of living up to so the hate grew. Will miss you Peeke, but the cap savings from this is great for next season and paying our RFAs

Edit: oh my god we got a 3rd round pick back. God bless you JD

Sad to see him go. I really like guys who are willing to lay it all out to get a blocked shot. He seems like a great dude and if he had to go I’m glad he’s headed to a serious contender. Go get your name on the trophy, Peeker. Thanks for your time and effort.

Zboril’s contract ends after this season, so that frees up some room for the defense prospects.

I like Peeke, hope he does well in Boston but yeah this was a good trade for the future.

  8. NontransferableApe

It’s about time Lordy that was a bad contract

Zboril is a defensive project where the wheels fell off the wagon. He has shown flashes of success, but he hasn’t put it all together since his knee injury. Maybe a bit of change of scenery will work for him

Zero retention, a 3rd round pick down the road and more depth piece (or even a 7D here in Columbus) to bring the Calder back to Cleveland…very good job FO!

Bruins fan who roots for CBJ (best friend is a diehard Jackets fan) and this appears to be a reshuffling of garbage cans. Zboril showed signs he could be a bottom pair defenseman before injuries and now just can’t be on the ice. Peeke is an unspectacular 7th defenseman but at least he can play 8-11 minutes without being a complete liability.

I wonder if Zboril can impress at all for the Monsters maybe he’ll get an extension, who knows maybe he just lost all confidence and forgot how to play.

Moved a bad (if small) contract for an expiring? Cool. Surprised we didn’t have to give up something for the clear dump but whatever.

It’s not a lot but every bit of money helps for these bridge deals for impending RFAs. Now just…whoever is the new GM needs to not be handing out serious term to defenders this summer.

  13. Kuttermaximus

Good move. The organization has been clogged with too many borderline players. Moving out Bemstrom was a good first step. Moving Peeke is another good step.

  14. ddottay

Apparently we also got a third round pick too. Good work JD

  15. Fabresque_

So… we don’t retain any of his salary. AND apparently we got a 3rd round pick in 2027. Wow.

  16. bjlight1988

Oh hey the announcement from the team Facebook says we also got a third rounder in…2027 rofl

Whatever I honestly expected us to have to give up a late pick to get someone to eat the money

I like Peeke and will always appreciate how he stepped up during a cursed season last year. *But* he clearly didn’t have a spot here and the contract needed to go. Wish him the best in Boston–maybe a change of scenery will work out for him.

  18. ShartRat

We really got a 3rd round pick and more cap space for the young guys this summer. I expected a move somewhere on defense but I would’ve thought it would be one of the expiring guys and definitely not a 3rd rounder. Definitely not complaining about that deal that’s gonna help us a lot.

  19. ThunderousDemon86

JD has been a better GM than Jarmo this year, not even debatable.

  20. JD is looking to be 3/3 on small move trades so far.

He got us Nylander who is on a tear. Grabbed Subban for basically nothing to bolster the Monsters. And now Peeke is swapped for a 3rd rounder and no salary retained.

Nothing flashy, but even little moves like this can pay off when we need to make bigger ones.

    Just announced on ESPN,

    Roslovic to NYR.

  22. EventualCorgi01

I’m happy to get rid of Peeke, the one thing he was good at was blocking shots which unfortunately might have been due to his inability to do much else, especially on the offensive side

Not sure why people are saying he was the perfect 6th or 7th D guy, he objectively was pretty bad for the team and couldn’t be trusted with the puck on his stick, even if it was just digging the puck out of our end

  23. AeroBlack33

Creates some more flexibility for the new GM and a pick to boot. This is a win.
