  1. The problem is that Allvin overpaid for Lindholm and instead of taking the L and moving a player that is clearly not the right fit, he became emotionally attached to the deal/player and decided to hang on. Just like Benning and Juolevi. In the investment world this is called dumb money and is going to cost Canucks chances at winning the Cup

  2. This seems silly. If a player is like Poolman, on LTIR and most likely never going to play again, whatever his cap is should be taken off the books entirely as if it never existed, until something changes and he can play again (if he can). The way they do it is so silly and complicated, especially when you have teams circumventing the cap like Vegas anyway. What’s the difference? If someone with a cap hit of 2.5 is on LTIR, you should be able to bring in a contract of equal or lesser value. Once that player is healthy enough to play, then you have to figure out how to be cap compliant or you play a player of equal or great cap value short. When you have guys on LTIR who could realistically play until the deadline when the cap doesn’t matter, this is pretty ridiculous. If Poolman is worth 2.5 under the cap and he’s on LTIR, the Canucks should have been able to bring in a $2.5 million cap hit without a problem. If Poolman magically healed up, then they’d have to figure things out then. It’s needlessly complicated this way. You shouldn’t have to move a guy who will never play again just to bring in a player of equal value. The NHL has done so many stupid things since 1993. I wouldn’t have had a salary cap. If you can’t afford to run an NHL team, tough. You don’t belong. It’s the big leagues. Sorry, Florida, Arizona and the other teams that fans don’t care about. The league is bloated. Hartford lost a team because of bad ownership and management. The Coyotes haven’t moved since 1996 and they’ve been bailed out several times. And who suffers? Fans who support their teams. Canada hasn’t won anything in 30 years and we’re putting up with this? What’s in it for us? Nothing.

  3. We had no second and a third pick this year for Tufoli. And how about the OEL cap penalty dude? Canucks shopped early and brought in Zadorov and Lindholm. We gave up plenty there. I think most of Canuck nation is OK with no further moves bring made and keeping our prospects.

  4. They have to have assets to put in play at the draft and the next couple trade deadlines with the small window they have to be competitive. Let’s see how far this core can take us this spring and reevaluate. I’m fine with the roster as is and am looking forward for Joshua and (ugh) Myers to return.

  5. This sounds like a flaw in the way the Cap and LTIR works. If a player's career is over, and is either no longer physically capable of or willing to play hockey, there should be a provision for being able to void the contract's cap hit, however it comes back for the number of years remaining at the point the contract was voided if the player does return to the game within the next 3 or 4 years of "retiring". A player who can no longer play or is refusing to play should not be holding up cap space when they're unable or unwilling to perform their contract. That's unfair to all teams and unfair to the players who don't make as much as they could due to cap space being tied up by dead contracts with retired players.

  6. We should never have bought out OEL this doesn't matter. This big mistake will hold us back again for a decade, just like Lou's contract did. Cycle continues, don't make huge mistakes like this.

  7. Would Toffoli even want to come back? I know theyre a good team and he's probably buddies with the players, but didn't the management not even reach out to him about an extension or anything? Maybe now that it's new management he would have been thrilled to join. Who knows.

  8. Stupid watching this hockey video game. Just put a blue screen up and it would be better. Unwatchable!

  9. I don't understand the pearl-clutching and garment-rending going on over the trade deadline.
The Canucks are first in the league.
    If it ain't broken…

  10. There's making moves for needs, and then theres making moves for sake of making moves. Canucks could have played the same game Vegas just did with Mark Stone and his "lacerated spleen". The fact we beat Vegas IN Vegas shows where we are. Amd we're going to be alright.

  11. Face it this ownership hired J Benning and let him stay to long ..And this team is going to pay for it ..But the owners don't care ..They only in it for themselves

  12. The mess JB made was never going to be cleaned up 100%, isn't possible. Allvin and JR will need to be nimble this summer to fill the roster.

  13. Van need not spend more ,there is only one puck, and so balance is important.good club, play to your strength

  14. I listen to a lot of hockey youtubers, and I have to say you might have the best mic set up of anyone. The quality of the sound varies a lot, and sometimes I stop listening to people for this reason, but you sound very crisp. great job!

  15. stupid benning. they could have traded poolman last offseason to someone to a team like arizona then they wouldnt be in this predicament

  16. I think you’re forgetting that NJ retained 50% of toffolis contract… meaning he was less than 2.5 mill
