    >1. Jeff Skinner had 9:15 of ice time against the Oilers, which was the lowest total he’s had this season other than a game in which he got injured. This was related to his play. Granato made it clear other players were playing better than Skinner and JJ Peterka, who also had his ice time throttled against the Oilers. Skinner also had less ice time against the Nashville Predators on Thursday night. Though he has 20 goals again this season, Skinner is not scoring the way he did last season. He had a lousy turnover that led to a short-handed goal against Edmonton and made an inexplicable defensive gaffe against Toronto in overtime Wednesday. His play away from the puck is hurting the Sabres too often.
“I think he’ll get out of it,” Granato said. “I think he’s got a lot of pride in his game, and he cares and he’ll work his way out of it. There’s no question.”

    >2. Byram is staying with Cozens and likely will for the rest of the season. Byram and Cozens have been friends for a while and spent the All-Star break together in Cancun. Now Byram is bunking with Cozens while his girlfriend works on planning the move from Denver to Buffalo.
“It’s something we’ve always talked about is playing on the same team together,” Cozens said. “For it to come true, it still doesn’t feel quite real yet.
“I know once everyone gets to know him a bit better and he gets more comfortable, everyone’s going to love him. He’s going to fit in so well in this group. It’s going to be fun having him here. He’s such a great player on the ice, and even in his first two games, he’s been outstanding. He hasn’t even come close to being the player he can be. He’s going to be fun to watch for a long

Skinner will not get out of it. Away from the puck it’s who he’s always been. Get rid of him.
