Stick to original agreement. The standings, results, and outcome of the season will be at the discretion of the NHL.

  2. Well if we could get a guaranteed extra 1st I'd definitely fight for it, also if the option of 2 x 3rd's for the second back was available then a million times yes since there's a higher success rate for earlier picks. If we could retain at least a 2nd if not the first for this year then that would go a long way since it's supposed to be a deep draft

  3. Best case scenario!
We draft in June our 1st rounder for 2020 in top 15 but the league says NHL teams with games in hand get to play remaining games to catch up and #Canucks make the playoffs and win the Stanley Cup and following season give NJ our 31 draft pick

  4. I need a war-room before trying to figure this out. Whatever happens, if I were Benning, I would try to capitalize on 2 factors: 1. There are unusual and unprecedented circumstances that are affecting the details of the JT Miller trade. And 2. Tom Fitzgerald is a rookie interim GM…we've all seen inexperienced GMs get fleeced. New Jersey is owed a first round pick either this season or next, so it would take a significant deal to move New Jersey off that. If Benning could somehow keep the first rounder by putting together a package that would be enticing enough to New Jersey, I think that would be the best case scenario. If the package includes a roster player, that would have the additional advantage of freeing up some cap space. The package could also include a player not currently on the roster, like the rights to Tryamkin and/ a 2nd, and/or 3rd round pick. So Tryamkin, Sutter (maybe?), and a 2nd/3rd…Not sure if it's enough to get back the first rounder though. Jersey likes the idea of having 2 first round picks, I'm sure.

The logistics of trying to work out something definitive in uncertain circumstances is confusing. This might be one of those instances of c'est sera, sera. Until all this gets hammered out, I will be hopeful the Canucks don't get the short end of the stick. In the meantime, stay safe and well, Clay!
