How excited are you for Vasily Podkolzin? What are your expectations for him this season?
Of course he looks like a man He is a man. I get it he looks more mature then he is but it's a dumb statement.
Podkolzin is the Russian version of the Tkachuk brothers. Better on defense, but still can get under your skin, throw you off your game, plays the boards very well, strong on the puck. Skating was his knock couple years ago but amazing how much it improved now.
Can't wait to see news say "Not again, Canucks with another Calder trophy finalist?"

He's who I'm most excited for this yr, hoping the energy he's been known to play with motivates the whole team to play with that energy and of coarse his compete level. Points are nice but not gonna be how I personally gage his play. Would be nice to see more board battles won as well specially in our own end. So pumped, let's go✊
Podgoalzin lookes awsome. I also liked what Dickinson had to say, seems to know the game well and had lots of positivity towards the team.

Skating has not been his weakness lol. There guessing. His McDavid comparisons from Russian media were based of his speed. He can beat defenders wide because he doesn't look fast but man he can flat out beat defenders.

Please let's not get too high on a Russian player who has not played even 1 NHL …..the player to be excited about is Connor Garland IMO

Very excited to see Podkolzin play. From that video, looks like he brought his moves, and trying to impress. Doing a good job of it. From experience, I've learned to keep my expectations in check before we even see Podkolzin play a real game. Thanks Clay.

Unless he’s shrunk, Podkolzin is not 6’1” 195 lbs (his draft vitals?) as you said but 6’4” 203 lbs, as published by Elite Prospects since for about a year or so.
I’m excited to see how much everyone has improved since last year. The fun thing about Vancouver is they’re so young so there isn’t a lot of players who have even hit their prime yet. Horvat, Boeser, Hughes, Petey, Hoglander, Demko, Rathbone etc. even Miller and Garland should all still be improving. Really hoping Juolevi makes a big step this year too.

Regarding Canucks. We’ve improved with Podkolzin, Garland giving us depth. Bottom 6 have improved may actually be able to contribute in points. On Defence and goal we’ve stayed about the same lost some gained some. This season will be determined by Petey’s health and Hughes defensive game improvements.

He looks just as I hoped he would. Relieved, now lets get to the game. Was a little worried about speed. He kind of wow's you on his skill set.
As long as we're not expecting the second coming of Pavel Bure, I think we'll be very happy with Vasily. He's the guy who will score goals and make plays by just outworking and outsmarting everyone else on the ice. We've been too easy to play against recently, and guys like Dickenson, Garland and Podkolzin will change that pretty quickly. Nobody is going to want to play against that 3rd line. If Vasily can learn to speak Tikkish, bonus. Just annoy guys constantly until they make a mistake and the puck's in the back of the other team's net.
