I’d like them to try Rielly Liljegren again. That line looked great offensively yesterday. Even if it mean you need to give them primarily o zone starts and shelter them a bit.

    Good ol’ Rielly – Brodie

    The worst pairs by xGF%:
    Brodie/McCabe

    Rielly/Brodie

    Brodie/Liljegren

There seems to be a pattern here.

Interesting stat – thanks for pulling and posting. Probably creates more questions than answers unfortunately but should hopefully simmer down the idea of moving on from Lily.

  8. desperatehouseknivez

McCabe / Benny with over 400 mins together and give up 2.27 goals/ 60.

Why they are split up is beyond me … Keefe shouldn’t mess with that duo.

Can’t wait until we’re done with Keefe and Brodie.

Liljigren on all of the 3 highest xG% pairs. Interesting. I was told he sucks and should be scratched for the playoffs.

Not that they were contenders to begin with, but Brodie’s decline has nuked any shot of them basically having a decent cup run. They were so thin on the blueline to begin with

Liljegren haters will still find an excuse to see their favourite D spend 60% of his TOI in the defensive zone and be happy because they throw the occasional ‘hit’

  13. xtzferocity

Keefe sees your numbers and yeets them. The numbers showed how bad Brodie-Rielly has been for the last two weeks but he keeps going back to it.

Why drop benoit he’s top notch

  15. Single-Researcher-81

May I ask a potentially dumb question. Does Xgoals consider:

    1. Quality of opponent they are facing. I imagine the benoit-lagesson pairing was largely matched against other team’s fourth lines.
    2. offensive vs defensive zone starts. Again if that best pairing is only starting in the other teams zone, how might this skew the numbers?

So basically my takeaway from this is that Mo/Lilli doesn’t just outscore any potential issues, they heavily outscore those issues.

I hope Keefe experiments more with this pair, if they click consistently then they’ve solved both top pair problem and the partner problem for Mo and Lilli

When people say Liljegren is offensive and needs to work on his defensive game to get in the lineup

This is the barometer to me that they have no idea what they’re talking about

I would go (with Bush out):

    Rielly/Edmunson.
    McCabe/Benoit.
    Brodie/Lilly.

(Edmunson and Lilly could be swapped but I would like to try Edmunson on the right and I would like to see his defence with Riellys offence. )

    When Bush comes back:

    Rielly/Bush.
    McCabe/Benoit.
    Edmunson/Lilly.

    It’s quite simple

    Rielly Liljegren
    McCabe Lyubushkin
    Edmundson Benoit

    Sit: Brodie Timmins

    Giordano TBD

  20. SnooOranges798

Brodie with his 0 goals and lack of physicality has no business playing in the top 6. Him and Gio are as good as gone next year.

I’d rather have Gio / Timmins for a 7th defender and tell him to stay home!
