    I don't want to get carried away but Raymond is showing us something special. The difference between good hockey players and great ones is the ability to will oneself to a higher level by shear determination. If you watch the great players a lot, (McDavid, Draisaitl, Ovi, yes and Patrick Kane too) they all have this ability in them to take their game to another level via willpower alone and Lucas is doing this right now on a pretty regular basis in front of our eyes. He's putting the team on his back and carrying it. He's leading by example. He's only 21 years old and since beefing up over the off season he's been a different, stronger and more consistent player. This offseason Stevie has to make Seider and Raymond long term Red Wings and try to bring Kane back. I think he can do all three. Kane seems very happy here and he doesn't need to worry about money as his career winds down. We'll see.

    It might say on paper that Chiarot can play right D, due to Lalonde putting him there last season, but even Lalonde admitted he’s a left D through and through. He wasn’t good on the right side and likely won’t be paired with Edvinsson now that Petry is on the team. Edvinsson was paired with Petry in his recent game this season which makes sense.

    Thank god Raymond could get to the puck after the faceoff. The puck bounced near DeBrincat but if it was left to DeBrincat, the puck would have been cleared and game over.

    If you are looking for one main reason behind the Wings collapse, look no further than DeBrincat disappearing.

    I don't think Ghost should be a healthy scratch (he is a very good passer on the PP) maybe we go back to 7 D men.. Im not sure what fwd to scratch but i truly think Ghost has a lot of offensive upside

    The best thing Razor has done so far this season is fight Chiarot in practice during a losing streak, showing some passion and will to win. After 3 Cups, I thought Kane would bring that winning passion and leadership, but he may be burned out on that role and just wants to score goals. This is Perron's last year and Sprong is going to want a large contract, so with Cat no longer a 40 goal scorer there will be a trade for a true sniper OR call up 3 or 4 Griffins next season. Newsy seems a little too dispassionate to be a great motivator, but at least he's not afraid to experiment. The team has shown FLASHES of excellence, but a season is 4,920 minutes long and JUST using the draft to build a team that can compete over the long haul is mathematically improbable.

    To win a Cup, Bowman turned Yzerman into a 2-way center. Winning in the playoffs comes down to playing great defense. Stevie Y knows this, as does Newsy. They had to make the same change in Tampa to win their Cups. For all of Raymond's points, 59, he is a -19. So even though he's helped the team with 59 points he's been on the ice for 78 goals against.

    Take a look at Florida's scoring leaders, Reinhart, 79 points, +19, Barkov, 66 pts, +23, their D-man Forsling has 35 pts and he's a +48! It's great that we're fighting for a playoff spot but we have a long way to go, both with our roster and style of play, before we can compete for a Cup.
