I think several things can be true at once. As wrong as it may feel to scratch Couts, he wasn’t producing. To top it off, his reaction in the media wasn’t what you’d want from a veteran. Let alone one playing under Torts.

I was at the game, saw the interview. He was joking. Jarvis is really good friends with Burns and his son. Jarvis is also the proverbial "kid brother" on the team. Everyone gives him a hard time for fun and he gives is back. It's team dynamic everyone has fun with.

Canes fan here – he was interviewed by Hanna Yates after the game which is a post game ritual and thats when he was messing with Burns

He said it during the post-game on-ice interview. But they're goofing around. Jarvis and Burn's son play video games together. Burns is just Jarvis's dad at this point.
Just note, Jarvis was about 1 years old when Burns was drafted… just think about that.

I took it as Jarvis joking around when asked if his and Burns off ice chemistry (They're famous for being best friends and Jarvis is close to the Burns Family; as well as joking around) translated into that play.

I saw the interview on an NHL social media page, maybe IG? Jarvis was just heckling Burns for the pass as it was on edge and he had to settle it a little before the shot. He wasn’t being mean at all about the comment but rather it was just good friendly banter via the interview.
