They did the right thing by tanking for McDavid, they just got unlucky. There are only two ways to win in the league: super elite talent and solid supporting cast, or top to bottom the most complete team in the league. After losing out on McDavid we were forced to take the harder “complete team” route, and they clearly haven’t gotten it right
