What’s even more amazing is that the maple leafs have only won a Stanley cup when there were 6 teams only in the league. The other 5 teams that played in the 1966-1967 year have all won multiple cups since then. The league is now 32 teams, and only 11 teams have not won a Stanley cup, but all of those teams came after the maple leafs. In addition to having the longest Stanley cup win drought in nhl history, the leafs have the longest presidents’ trophy drought. The maple leafs may be one of the most prestigious, historical franchises in nhl history, but they act as if they are a newly formed expansion team at times.
