@Maple Leafs de Toronto

Plus le temps passe depuis la dernière fois qu’ils l’ont utilisé, plus je réalise que l’ancien logo des Leafs est nul.

Nah it doesn’t suck to me. To me that’s the Leafs logo. It’s the one I grew up with and the one I’ll always love even if it’s a link to the Ballard days. I’m not saying it’s the greatest or anything but I like it.

  2. kenharling

Pretty safe and boring, but it’s iconic, and what I grew up knowing

  3. Clugaman

Cmon man this Leafs logo is awesome. We may have sucked but this logo is iconic.

  4. chodgson111

Just imagine multiple cups with that logo. It’s never about the actual logo. Oilers and Islanders logo’s aren’t anything special.

  5. I like it. Nice and simple like many of the graphics from the 90s.

  6. BirdGooch

    This is my childhood logo.

That being said, when they changed it I was ecstatic. I love the classic look. The revival there shifted years of mediocrity of my childhood to a feeling of hope.

    …until April every year.

  7. wanado144

I think it’s just a product of it’s time, judging it against todays style it doesn’t hold up but it was a fine looking logo

  8. JesusJohn

I never liked it, it was what I grew up with and never liked it. I do like the current new logo.

  9. mattd1972

This and the stripe down the sleeves are symbols of mediocrity.

  10. Neutral-President

It was the one I grew up with, and yeah… it’s pretty terrible. It definitely evokes the Ballard-era Leafs for me.

  11. chesspaw

It’s boring and bland. So you’re not wrong.

I love this logo and the stacked TML shoulder / secondary patch.

I also love the 63-67 logo which they used on the early 2000s white alternate with blue shoulders more than the current one. I was never a fan of 67-70.

  13. Skiffy10

why does it have to suck? What’s great is that all their different logos represents a period and certain players in their history.

  14. Sideshift1427

Reminds me of Harold Ballard. *spit*

Before: lettering within a maple leaf

Now: lettering within a maple leaf

I never see anybody say anything nice about this logo outside of nostalgia tbh. I was very happy when we changed it. A lot of people say they associate it with being bad but honestly the team went to a couple conference finals with this logo it just was ugly then too. I wish the logo used in the 50s/early to mid 60s was never changed in the first place

  17. Drewtendo_64

I pushed hard against the re-design for a while but I love it more and more.

Sundin was my favourite growing up but the new logo is so much better.

  18. Sarge1387

I was never really a fan of the « block » style logo…the cool little TML shoulder patch in the shape of the logo was pretty slick however. Always enjoyed the « vintage » style Leaf logo, was so glad when they went back to it.

  19. swagginpoon

We should just change our name to toronto maple communications, and have a modem as our logo

  20. __TheWaySheGoes

It was pretty bad, but it was home

  21. I think I’d like it if the typeface was good.

  22. Fallout-with-swords

This was also my childhood logo but overtime I grew to dislike it as a logo. The new one is so, so much better. I think the leaf by itself is fine but the lettering just looks off on it, like it doesn’t fit properly.

  23. newO_79

All I can see when I see this logo is Mats Sundin

  24. outonthetiles66

    None of their logos “suck”.

  25. outonthetiles66

    None of their logos “suck”.

  26. outonthetiles66

    None of their logos “suck”.

  27. AdTricky5280

    Inferior but doesn’t suck.

Something about looking at this logo is so visceral in what it brings to mind. The history, my childhood, what it meant to me for so long.

I love the new logo but this beauty had its rightful place in my heart and the hearts of many

  28. Egg-Hatcher

Any logo a kid can draw with little difficulty is a good one for locking in a fan for life.

  29. bdart1980

Somebody clearly needs to watch The Passion Returns!

  30. Deluxechin

I agree our current logo is far superior and every way, however, it’s still an iconic logo for the city of Toronto and I really wish they would use the silhouette of this leaf on the shoulders

  31. Accomplished_Low148

As much as I dislike the logo I feel like it’s a perfect embodiment of the era that it represented.

Not that exciting, pretty mundane, and nothing that sticks out.

  32. ChoreWhore69

I think it was a fine logo, I grew up with it but the new is just better, the boys always seemed to play well in the alts that look closer to the current logo so I liked the change

  33. Carson_cwc

I don’t hate it, granted I’m not a leafs fan. I loved the old jerseys though I’ve always thought they should have just put the new logo on the old jersey

  34. aektoronto

Heres the thing about this logo…simple or boring or whatever term you want to use it has a timeless quality because of it’s simplicity. It doesnt look like a logo from a specific era.

For example the Islanders logo, created about that same time looks like a 70s logo.

I mean the name of the team is the Maple Leafs…there arent that many variables.

  35. thetonyhightower

It’ll always be the Ballard Logo to me, and everything that abusing pedo-enabling piece of shit touched wilted and died, including a half century of this franchise’s fortunes. Fuck him and everything connected to him.

  36. JuiceWaz83

More time didn’t need to pass. It sucked then and it sucks now. Represents nothing but failure and Harold Ballard. I despise him and Stafford Smythe for introducing this crappy thing in 1970. All because they never had trademarked the previous classic 35-point Leaf logos and couldn’t make more money off licensing. True story.
