It is, but we all knew it was coming.  He had the same injury that ended Robin Lehner’s career.

  2. Tat-lou

Sad but we knew he wasn’t coming back…

I fell like landy is going to see the same fate.

It’s sad that he’s retiring out of injury and not his own personal choice, but he’s 33, a Stanley cup champion, and beloved by an entire fan base. That’s a heck of a career

Really glad he was a massive part of the cup run. Don’t win it without him. Hopefully retirement treats him well

This was kind of expected. Goalies generally don’t come back to a high level after extended absences.

Still sad though, he swept the Oil for us to get to the cup final.

Macfarland described him as « enjoying retirement » in an interview this week, so « on the verge of » seems misleading

I’m an oilers fan I and remember watching his first NHL game in Edmonton. Sad to see him retiring under these circumstances

We knew this was coming, but I don’t like it

Frankie says he needs to relax

So sad he can’t retire on his own terms

We don’t win that cup without him. Period.

Knowing the Avalanche, he will be made a coach or scout of some sort.

Haven’t people been saying this for months?

  12. Big_Liability

We will always have him winning the WCF for us and sweeping the Oilers 4-0. How many backups can say they came into a WCF and won it?

  13. MissWonder420

Frankie, you will be missed, you will be remembered! You won us 2 of the 4 series needed for the cup win in ’22 and no one can ever take that away from you or us fans!
