If we get the lead we definitely should

  2. Odd-Instruction88

Is this a real game? When did this happen?

  3. xizrtilhh

Garbage hockey. Playing the trap should be a bench minor.

  4. Bittroffm

    Would love to see this.

Can we also get the crowd to cluck like chickens?

  5. teedlenumb

Ya wanna shot clock cause kings hockey is how we gonna get it lol

  6. nukfan94

Still some of the dumbest shit ever. Onus is on the Flyers to move the puck and analysts pretended there was a debate.

edit: i’m taking crazy pills apparently. reddit circle jerk in full swing vs 1-3-1

  7. boipinoi604

If we do, do it on their home arena.

This is great if you’re late to the game so you don’t miss anything

They should completely remove the offside rule in cases like this somehow.

Years ago the neutral zone was larger and the blueline was closer to the goals. They moved the blueline out to make the attacking zone bigger, but it had the side effect of clogging up the neutral zone and making entry harder.

Maybe if they made the blue « line » a blue « zone » that gave a lot more grace room to entries and exits (e.g. the blueline is effectively closer to the goal for purposes of offsides on zone entry and effectively farther from the goal for clearing the puck and forcing the attacking team to retreat) that would help.

No point of doing this if you’re not in the lead. Ruins fans time and money to see a good hockey game. Smh

If we’re gonna go down I’d rather go down swinging but I get your point

  12. OverLordJezus

Score and then we should chill like this.

    Two can play this game

Yes, it’s garbage hockey. However, the onus should be on the team with the puck to attack. That’s how it is in basketball, for instance. The team with the ball is the one that needs to move forward. They have a shot clock to prevent them from doing what the Flyers were doing. Although, basketball also has illegal defences too, so the analogy isn’t perfect.

I’m not the kind of hockey fan who can spot a strategy/play and know what it is, but I can say for certain that the games we play against the Kings are boring as hell. It’s interesting to find out they’re playing « the trap » I’ve heard about for years.

  15. jamesSa81

The one forward on the King’s was forechecking though so they weren’t as bad as this. Still super boring but they wouldn’t embarrass themselves like this. I don’t think….

This is one of the funniest things I’ve seen in the NHL.

Who was the coach of the Flyers at the time?

  17. Deliximus

Love to see Tocc shower them with f-bombs for being cowards

  18. finnish-flash13

Who cares LA is trash as is PLD!

  19. shayner5

Did they not put a rule in if a team was to do what Philly did? I’m pretty sure it’s a delay of game penalty for the team with the puck not attacking

  20. DJ_Molten_Lava

I love this. The point of hockey is to try and score goals so if you don’t want to even try then fuck you.

  21. Canucks to Kings: « You may have a Trap, but we have a Hughes! »

  22. averyhungrydinosaur

So what’s to stop Zaddy from coming straight up the middle from behind the net, full tilt, and from a few feet away just push the puck into someone’s feet and absolutely truck them into next Tuesday?

  23. MostLikelyDenim

People won’t like to hear this, but most NHL teams hit a 1-3-1, 1-1-3, or a 1-2-2 when they’re protecting a lead. People just don’t recognize it happening.

  24. Raincouvercity

it’s tough, you don’t want to play their game, you want them to play our game.

  25. Curious_Put_5696

sry can someone explain to me why this is happening? like what is wrong with a 1-3-1 formation?

  26. KevinKCG

The refs should call the play dead, and then force a faceoff in the offensive zone. That would end this practice pretty quick.

  27. Oh man Versus was so long ago. I remember them airing that 2011 run which unfortunately didn’t have a finals that year.
