TLDR- he’d like for Root to have a standalone streaming plan, but they can’t offer one due to existing contracts with Comcast and other traditional TV companies.

Sure sounds like a problem that won’t get solved anytime soon.

Glad I picked FUBO randomly when I was looking for TV options to connect to my ESPN+ account to watch Kraken Hockey after we got rid of cable…

I had no idea what it was and lucked into being able to watch all Kraken and Mariner games out here in the east coast

It’s so funny, not knowing of any of this we decided to cut the cord and I’m trying to look at all my options.

Right now from what I’m seeing to watch Kraken games I’d pay more than I would for what I watch on TV, like way more than triple and it would actually be cheaper to subscribe to watch my Caps games than Kraken. Thankfully I guess I can catch it on the radio.

I don’t believe a single word this guy says. If he is telling anything of the truth here then he and Root ownership are the biggest morons on the planet signing a contract with Comcast that both locks them in to their distribution but allows Comcast to change the terms of that distribution at-will as they did last year by pushing Root to a premium tier and slashing their revenue as a result.

Reality is Stanton and Mariners management is singularly focused on tertiary revenue streams (parking, cable subscriptions, restaurants at the ballpark, etc.) They are the Spirit airlines of sports ownership and they don’t care about putting a good product on-field or getting it to fans over the air because they know they have a lucrative captive audience already. Calling Fubo « direct to consumer » is a joke. I hope the Kraken go their own direction when the contract is up.
