Don't give up on Jakob, time to give up on both goalies.
The sens have been poor this year, even in comparison to last year. Jakob is being used as a scape goat. i have watched many games (and am a hockey player myself) and i feel like alot of these claims of him being a bad puck carrier are false and second of all him not throwing the body isnt neccessary? if youve seen latvia play you know they never hit or do anything physcial and yet they still won 3rd. basically id rather a guy who knows how to hit and when to hit over a dumbo who hits because he feels like it and doesnt know how to. i also feel alot of these claims are people who havent been on the ice in a demanding environment or a high level. i have and can tell that there isnt anything bad to his game , hes just not the person to blame, whether its the coaching staff, defensive structure or goaltending i dont know. his so called "fall off"" is mainly because the sens expectation of being a playoff team and not perfoming is the main factor. to the point where some nights the only player trying out there is stutzle. even brady for alot of games has been poor
Meh. He's 26. Breakout needs to happen soon, but he's still worth his price tag.
He does need to stop being a noncy.
He’s not been that great but he’s had only trash partners all season. I’d still move chabot if possible before chychrun
I wouldn't pay attention to what Sens fans want. We're not a very rational group of people over in the Senators subreddit
It would be a dumb move to give up on Jacob; he's only 26 and tied for 3rd in Team scoring. Of course we don't know what's really going on. If he was better defencively, he would be great…but maybe he doesn't wantvto.
I honestly don’t get why people hate so much on Chychrun… First of all, I agree that he’s insanely built and that he could probably make some good damage with hits, but honestly, most of the Sens don’t play with much physicality on the ice anyways and don’t hit at all. So if people are gonna point fingers at him for not playing physical, then might as well point fingers at almost the whole team, expect for the guys that actually hit all the time like Tkachuk, Kastelic, Kelly and Zub sometimes. Not every player uses their size how fans want them to.
Second of all, Chychrun at the moment, is producing more points than any other defensemen on the team in his first full year as a Senator, and the team hasn’t been great as we all know. I personally think it doesn’t make sense for people to say that he doesn’t deserve over 5-6M$ when Chabot and Sanderson are both making 8M$+ and play with the same amount of physicality as Chychrun. On top of that, Chychrun is producing basically the same amount of points a year as Chabot. I definitely think that Chychrun deserves minimum 7M$ like the rest of our top defensemen (Chabot, Sanderson). We all know he will be asking for that kind of money, but it will be hard to give it to him considering the salary cap space.
Overall, I don’t think that giving up on him is the solution at all. With the team that we’ve had, I don’t expect Chychrun to be playing better than how he already is right now. The team has a lot of problems right now and it’s not by looking at Chychrun’s physicality that it’s gonna fix these problems. We need to look at the team as a whole.
Chychrun is an offensive defenseman but Ottawa keeps pairing him with other defensemen who also try to join the rush and score goals. If he's paired with Chabot or Brannstrom and they're both trying to jump up, that forces the forwards to scramble to play D and leaves the shaky goaltending vulnerable. I would rather a defenseman who doesn't score a single goal all season if he's effective at limiting chances for the other team
Why do you keep pronouncing his name wrong? It's CHICK-RUN, not CHICH-RUN. No one is going to take your analysis seriously if you can't even get his name right.
No real fan is giving up on him. People are just upset with the pairings he’s had this season because he’s not had a solid duo partner on the blue line…. If the sens get a top 4 right handed defenceman… chychrun will get a good partner then after by moving either Zub or chabot down to his line
