Happy for Yotes fans. It looks great all things considered. I'm getting a little tired of that aesthetic if I had to get extra picky, but looks like somewhere I'd want to hang out before and after games for sure.
It's do or die!
I live in East Phoenix but there is absolutely NO buzz about the Coyotes here. The complex will be swarming with people but the games won't sellout. Then again, if the team gets the land and this matter is finally settled, hopefully the team will start to bring in high profile free agents to go along with Keller, Smaltz, Durzi, Maccelli and company. I think the team is hesitant in bringing free agents now, not knowing the future of the team. Also, free agents don't want to come here because they don't know where this team will play in the future. GET IT DONE!!!!
I'm pessimistic too. For the Yotes organization, this is the absolute last chance. I can't think of any other way how to get out after they cornered themselves if they lose the auction. Meruelo needs to show us the money or the 2+ decades of effort to keep this hockey team in the valley will go down the drain.
New York actually has three (Isles, Rangers, and Devils). I think Quebec is dead given the challengest that Winnipeg has had post-pandemic. I think it's Utah, Houston, Atlanta, and GTA (Mississauga-Square One or Downsview Park). If Arizona goes to Utah as a relocation, then maybe Hartford, Portland, or Kansas City.
Houston, Milwaukee, Salt Lake, Quebec
move them to utah already. would be fuckin hilarious if ryan smith bid on the land in AZ and took the team lol
Yeah right. Like nhl is gonna wait until june to see IF yotes get the land. If it fails they are stuck in az. one more year. Too little too late plan knowing this bid buys yotes one mre season-if nhl even allows this. Just give it up. Move yotes to slc. Put expansion teams in sd and kc who may lose royals or houston. kc, qc deserve another chance before atl. 3.0 ever does. Yotes can't even extend players and need $20 mill. ltir just to get to cap minimum yet merullio has $65 mill. to buy a parcel of land. Where are china land buyers when you need them?
I hope they fold. So many other markets out there that are deserving of a franchise.
This reminds me a lot of the failed Lighthouse Project that Wang wanted to build on the grounds of the Nassau Coliseum. It looked unbelievable but was eventually voted down. That said, I hope for Arizona it passes. As for more teams, f that unless there is no expansion draft. Let them suck just like 90% of the league. No more of this instant cup contender shit.
Before the Arizona Coyotes can build their new hockey-specific venue and entertainment district in Northeast Phoenix, on May 20, Alex Meruelo will sell the Coyotes to Connecticut Sports & Entertainment Group, a Hartford-based group headed by billionaire hedge fund managers Ray Dalio and Todd Boehly for $1.68 billion, including a relocation fee of $195 million to relocate the Coyotes to Hartford, On June 25, the NHL Board of Governors will approve both the sale and relocation of the Coyotes to Hartford in a 30-2 vote, so next season, after 28 seasons in the Phoenix area, the Coyotes will relocate to Hartford to become the 2nd incarnation of the Hartford Whalers, play their home games at the XL Center, become the new member of the Eastern Conference's Atlantic Division, and force the Detroit Red Wings to return to the Western Conference's Central Division.
