I was at the home game against Nashville when the wings won in OT. Gus had himself a game and my brother wore his Nyquist jersey to the game. A lot of fun was had at his expense!

  3. When Goose and Tartar sauce got traded, I was most upset about Nyquist. I was all in on the guy, still have his jersey.. I’ve been glad to see him doing especially well this season!

Man this makes me happy to see. Great late career surge from such a likable former wing.

Bring him back for a couple more years. Let him finish here 🤞

He and Larkin were electric together the year we traded him.

He needs to retire a Red Wing

i love how any time a nyquist highlight gets posted to r/hockey the comment section is 70% wings fans saying they love/miss him, 20% jackets fans saying the same thing, and 10% his current team’s fans. dude is just loved everywhere he goes

I’ll always remember that one month where it felt like he scored almost every single game. Unstoppable.

I just moved from Nashville to Minnesota, was excited to watch Gus on the Wild. Low and behold, he ends up going to Nashville, and instead I get stuck with hockey terrorist John Hynes following me to Minnesota! It isn’t fire I tells ya

Love to see it. Gus was/is a good dude and could be really fun to watch.

I was one of the few who had the fond-memories pop into my head this summer, and wondered if it’d have been a good idea to bring him back to Detroit this last free agency period.

Not saying we *should* have, but it’s also cool that he’s having such a good year. He was a favorite of mine for a few years there.

Also … he didn’t play center when he was in Detroit, did he? I always remember him being on the wing.

    Love me some Nyquist.

Back when he began his pro career, he had a very good first preseason. I was not happy he got sent to the AHL. For three years in a row to boot. I wonder if his career would have turned out any different if he got the Raymond treatment, starting in the NHL, playing on a line with a near prime Datsyuk or Zetterberg.

Instead, he got called up full time the year both of them were injured for a big chunk of the season.

He carried that team that year, but I can’t help but wonder… How much better would the 2011 and 2012 wings have been with him stapled to the top six instead of guys like Abby, Cleary, and Todd Bertuzzi… And would Nyquist have been better off himself growing in the NHL instead of the minors for so long.

Goose is part of a wings future that never was. He was my favourite wing of that generation, glad to see him do well.

So happy for him. Goose has been one of my faves for a long time

Snipe-quist! Will never forget that 28 second sequence where he retained possession of the puck the entire time then sneaks one under the pads and wins it in OT, I think that won play of the year? 🤔

Glad to see him doing well, he was struggling with injuries for awhile there. A player that you just can’t hate, a player I would’ve welcomed back anytime
