@Wild du Minnesota

    « aaaand they’re working with a full $ 83.5 million salary cap »

    John Hynes, probably

  3. Biggest problem was depth. When you have a 14.7M hole in your cap space either you’ll find bottom guys overachieving or you’ll have a lack of depth. This season our bottom guys didn’t produce as expected and injuries plagued our top guys. Only Brock Faber and Marco Rossi are on pace to play the full season and there’s argument for Rossi to be the third Calder finalist alongside Faber and Bedard.

    « Oh you know, new engine, new transmission, 3 more wheels. Other cars have lots of parts, and can go fast. »

  5. No it’s called we should have been ready to tank the whole season. Hines did great with all the injuries!! To many nobody players ok another Year contract and kept the younger players from playing. Next year get a grip

    The fact is that we have 4 forwards who are top-6 players. Kaprizov, Boldy, JEE, and Rossi.

    The rest are essentially 3rd & 4th liners. We have no true second line.

    On any given night, 2-3 starting defensemen could/should be scratches on a true playoff team.

    Until we have a 2nd line that team’s have to respect, this is it.

    It’s really just depth. If you think your depth is good it must contain enough skill speed and size, or it would not be good depth. 20 goals don’t count for more if a guy is taller or faster..

    Hmm, they don’t have albatross players/contracts like Johansson, Freddie, Moose…?

    Wow, so basically everything other than goaltending. Kind of a sobering comment with no quick fixes. They need a roster overhaul badly but just always seem to double down on known quantities and overpay for them. Watching some of the players we have signed for the next few year last night made me cringe. Last night should be a wakeup call at just how far away we are from competing with the best. That….and our record against the Central divisions best teams. Has the Wild just been spinning their wheels the past few years? Would like to think they are prepared to improve dramatically after next season is over.

    Why do I feel like this is Hynes way of being on board with trading Rossi?

    “About $15m in cap space”
