No no no. For once, give a proven effective coach a freakin chance. This team is not talented enough to do better than their OVERALL performance this year. Ugh.

Daren Dreger already shot this down yesterday it’s not happening. This is just a fantasy cooked up by media people whose feelings were hurt at some point by Torts. He was a Jack Adams’s finalist up till a week ago.

Amazing. The flyers have zero veteran NHL caliber starting goalies and it shows every night. Maybe it’s time to move on from the coach. We know it isn’t his fault, but he’s a big meanie and we have been waiting for this moment to push our agenda.

Absolute insanity just how quickly people in this town turn. We’ve been praising Torts for over delivering all year. Does it suck watching us collapse out of the playoffs? Fuckin right it does. Are wholesale changes needed? Not at all. Except for whoever runs the PP.
Not yet, no. Winning or losing is irrelevant right now. Were rebuilding. His job is to squeeze all the talent out of guys he can to maximize their value or solidify a spot on the future roster. He’s doing a great job with it. Torts should go into the FO one day, but I’m not sending him there until Michkov comes over, or even one year after.
Ppl need to chill out, considering the dialogue about this team last off-season even if flyers lose the rest of these games they were a roaring success this season
So reading this, the main reason behind this idea is — if I got this right — a comment from a former CBJ GM who left eight years before Torts coached CBJ, about what he heard at the time. Then it seems to be all speculation. So…. pretty useless.
Bring on the downvotes! Here’s my assessment of tortorella; he’s a massive A hole!!!! Think about it, the flyers brass has been nailing home the theme of the season, which is, don’t fall in love with these guys because it’s still a rebuild. They’ve doubled down, tripled down, and so on. Before the season, during the season they’ve told us this message. Then they followed through with it by trading our best dman. We lost our top goalie, and ersson was thrust into a role he’s not ready for. So now that this is all catching up with them, torts publicly slams his team and calls the soft and says they have no balls!!! These players are far from soft, they have the most blocked shots in the league!!! They sacrifice their own physical well being to dive in front of frozen solid rubber traveling at 80-100 mph. They do it for their team. To call a hockey players soft and say they have no balls is the ultimate insult. Instead of being honest and saying that they’re tired because I ran them through the meat grinder at camp and the beginning of the season, and that they’re young and this is a learning experience, he betrays them and slams them in the worst way possible. Total A-HOLE. He couldn’t have said that the competition goes to another level at this stage of the season, and our guys are learning what that takes so that they will be better next year when we bring in some more talent? The talent has caught up to them. They’re too young and they took away their best dman. Then this guy roasts them, then he peels it back and says our guys just need to realize that they’re a good team? Get the bleep out of here you dinosaur

This team overachieves and gets to where nobody thought they could go, and now it’s all Torts’s fault for failing the expectations that **none** of these bloviating, sanctimonious assholes had in the first place. For ten years this team has been satisfied with below average effort and play. Giroux was the captain in that Tenure… we’ve gone through 3 hall of fame coaches in that time frame. Do you really think the coach is the problem or the culture??? Getting rid of giroux was the best decision this organization made. We’ve gone through front office people coaches never focusing on the team and the effort given by the players… Torts had this team over achieving all year. I can’t even believe this is a discussion. I would chose him over the low energy excuse filled players that developed that lack of work ethic from Giroux.

A rebuilding team played beyond their capability despite losing their franchise goalie, losing most of their defensemen, having to play a back-up goalie full time, being stuck with trash like Staahl, Laughton looking like he fell off the face of the Earth, and Atkinson and Coots being cooked.
But sure, it’s Torts’ fault and not the Fletcher front office building this shitty team as well as fucking Carter Hart being a fucking rapist.
What a shitty WIP take by the Athletic. Torts got this team playing hard after the days of the Kevin Hayes Country Club.
Torts is killing all that young talent of, uh. Oh yeah, let’s not forget about, uh. And uh, he’s a great prospect too!
We had nearly a full season of fun hockey, and instead of getting bounced in the first round, we might get a top 10 draft pick. That’s a great way to do a rebuild that doesn’t alienate the fans and deject the players. Let’s just hope they don’t spoil their chances by winning the last three games.
