What an absolutely bonkers finish for the final playoff spot. From an Oilers fan, respect to Detroit for almost making it, some amazing form (and a few poor performances) in the 2nd half of the season.

Missing the Playoffs because of Philly pulling their Goalie with in a 1-1 tie (I know why they did it) is upsetting, but the Wings not having the depth at Center (to stabilize the Team when Larkin went out), Defensive Lapses and Goaltending were our biggest issues and the main reason we missed the Playoffs.
Always a blast seeing some original 6 teams going at it. From a montreal fan, great game detroit, we'll see each other next year!

Washington was the weakest team of those in playoff contention. Also helped by Philly's legit goal waved off in the first. Sad finish to the season but Washington is on the decline and Detroit is pumping.
Too bad we put that stupid logo on our jerseys and lost all those games in a row.

:29 I will say it again for the person that said the saucer pass is sweet and nothing to do with bad defense. Take away the pass. This is todays NHL and sweet saucer passes are the norm and going down offers that chance. Stay in between and take the pass away. You cant do that laying on your stomach. And it's sad after what Shayne did in the last game.

Now imagine montreal had a proper goalie … it has been painful watching Canadiens goaltending this season.
1st – way to battle it out Detroit. You didn't go out quietly. 2nd – the audio in some of the NHL videos is legitimately awful. There are amateur highlight reels that outperform them and it's not even close.
So proud of the wings, past two games have been so exciting. I have no doubt had they won the energy in Detroit would've been electrifying. Always next year. See ya next season Hockeytown, LGRW!

What I don't get is why did the caps clenched the playoff spot when both red wings and caps are tired 91 – 91 points but red wings has more regular season wins then the caps, or am I forgetting something I'm just a little confused
