He’s been very impressive for a first time HC. He’s also improving year to year.

    Congrats. Earned!

Edit: Oh btw guys are Julien and Ducharme still getting paid? Lol

  4. Next year will be the real deal though. We wouldn’t mind some lost this year, but next year people (and medias) will start to complain if we don’t win more.

MSL feels so unique in professional sports. He’s been here basically since the beginning of the rebuild, yet it seems like he’ll be here to see it through and take the Habs over the top.

That third season is going to line up pretty well with the rebuild timeline I think. It feels like a good setup for success.

St-Louis proved he can coach in a development situation, he will now have the chance to prove he can coach in a situation where wins are expected – and demanded.

That being said, I sure as fuck am not going to bet against Martin St-Louis, the undrafted Hall of Famer.

Honestly, I’ve never seen a team that can fight harder in the 3rd period like the Habs consistently have done under the leadership of Marty. A good recipe for big games. Hope we can see some continued improvement and he can get some playoff experience next year as a coach. Been such a treat to have him be leader.

  9. Martin is already the 8th longest tenured coaches in the league. 24 coaches have been fired since we hired him.

    It’s a crazy job.

I’m a little more neutral on this than most it seems. St. Louis has done a lot of good things, but we are also basically in the exact same position as last season. We’ve got the same number or wins as last year, scored the same number of goals, had only 25 less goals scored against us, still have a below average PP and PK, etc. So basically, nothing has changed. That’s not a major indictment given our situation, but I’m going to need to see us take a significant step forward before I fully believe the Marty hype.

Nice. Marty is doing tremendous work with the young players, glad he’s going to be here for a while.

I see this extension as a time for reaching playoffs for MSL and showing what he can do. I think its reasonable target.
