@Coyotes de l'Arizona

  1. I didnt know anything about hockey besides my local smaller league team so I just kinda picked at random and chose the coyotes cause I thought the emblem looked badass… sad times boys

  2. They have to become the Templars, right? Automatic rivalry with the Golden Knights baked in.

  3. I totally forgot about Ted Williams head being cryogenically preserved. Kinda scary it's sitting somewhere waiting to be used somehow.

  4. Having hockey teams in warm weather cities is dumb. Move that Phoenix team to Salt Lake City!

  5. The people I feel bad for are the legit Coyotes fans that simply wanted the team to do well and for ownership to get better. I do not, however, feel bad for the toxic fans that harassed anyone critical of the team, Katie Strang in particular. I hope those types can stop ruining hockey circles while the true fans eventually find their team again, hopefully with good ownership.

  6. The coyotes have been a disaster franchise for many years due to poor mismanagement, and the fact they lasted this long is crazy. They were a perennial dumping ground for bad NHL contracts, the league had to prop up the franchise for many years, operationally they were incredibly flawed (missing payments, poor liquidity), player development they were trash (actually looking more promising.

Ryan Smith will actually invest the money to elevate this team further, and good things could happen.

I have no issue if Arizona gets another expansion team but it cannot be to their existing owner, it needs to be someone with deep pockets. Poverty franchises like this drag the league down hard and only hurt other teams.

  7. I think the Coyotes franchise will do really well in SLC. It's not the biggest city but Utahans are very supportive of their sports teams and the region has wanted an NHL team for years. I hope they rebrand to something new so they begin fresh in a new city that's happy to have them.

  8. As crap as this is, it could be worse- utah could be taking like, idk, a basketball team named the jazz away from new orleans and then keep the name 😂

  9. Looking at the league, nearly every team is making money consistently and revenues are growing.

I think expanding to 33 and eventually to 36 teams is honestly not a bad move.

  10. About damn time. How a corpse managed to survive this long in the desert is beyond me.

    Enjoy that team Utah!

  11. If Quebec City doesn’t have a team then “Arizona” shouldn’t.

It was trippy af watching my Rangers play the Yotes in the desert but that was cringe how bad that setup was….

  12. As an Arizona resident the mistake was leaving downtown going out to Glendale out west when the fan base was in the east valley. Also the crap organization ownership didn't help.

  13. Maybe karma can nudge Alex Meruelo out of his business suit and into an orange jumper for all the wanton fraud he likes to commit…

Then again, Scam Bankrupt-Fraud only got 25 years for some reason, so that shows financial crimes don't mean anything to the powers that be…

  14. I feel bad for the fans in Arizona, but this really feels like a long time coming, for the last 20 years.

It's nice they'll be considered for "expansion", but hopefully they'd get better ownership, and talent wouldn't be stretched too thin.

  15. This sucks as an Arizonan. But it was expected. Im glad we're keeping the Roadrunners. Gl to Utah i guess

  16. Bettman tried his hardest to make an experiment that really had no chance of succeeding work. My condolences to any Coyote fans that still exist, but this is the right thing to do.

  17. As an Arizonan, I can't say I'm exactly sad or surprised. The team just never got a lot of love here, and I never felt anything going to their games other than boredom and disappointment. I think hockey out here can work, but the Coyotes were doomed the moment they left Glendale

  18. If we don't get our players and prospects back in the Expansion don't bother. You take our team before we become competitive to give us a team that won't be is cowardice.

  19. The 'yotes were in an arena smaller than some ECHL rinks. Enough is enough; move the team if AZ can't support them.

  20. Uniforms should be black skates, black socks, plain white jersey with a name tag with logo and number. Team name … Tabernacs!

  21. Any and All fans of the yotes trying to complain about the owner or the NHL is fkn ridiculous. The city/state, and people of Arizona are why they are moving. The people Did Not want the team and refused to support it and give them a home. "can't build here" "cant build there" "no infrastructure and we can't supply water" the city literally voted against the team. Its the People of Arizona's fault. No one elses.

  22. The jury is still deliberating about the competence of the Smith ownership of the Jazz. Since taking over they've traded away nearly everything of value and the team's performance has fallen ever since. This is either the new normal or they're tearing it down to build it up new.

  23. Yotes fans got the short end of this but good for Arizona for not getting into bed with this scumbag billionaire

  24. An expansion team under new ownership is our best bet. The Diamondbacks are our only Championship team among the big 4. The Suns have had great runs and have been competitive but never made it all the way. The losers who were allowed to relocate here the coyotes and cardinals are national embarrassments. The Cardinals despite being a founding member of the NFL along with Bears have nothing to show for it. At this point I wouldn’t mind seeing the Cardinals leave as well. Phoenix is the #5 most populist city in the US and po dunk nowhere’s have more sports success. In a city of transplants this is unacceptable and the attendance at games show exactly why. So many home games look like away games when you look at the stands. Hopefully we can be the next Golden Knights when hockey comes back.
