@Maple Leafs de Toronto

Rappelons qu’il s’agissait du premier match éliminatoire de Vegas l’année dernière. Ils ont remporté la série 4-1 et finalement la coupe. Reste calme.

I’m calm. I just wanna see some *good playoff hockey* from the boys, like i’ve seen in these other game 1’s…. Give em hell!!! Cmon boys!!

  2. Staying calm really so crucial.

As usual Marner for instance is putting in a very dynamic playoff effort, but it seems to be fueled by desperation. As if he reads drought headlines before the game to get psyched up. Sad to see anxiety eat away at constructive efforts.

Then Marner gets more criticism despite a very energized effort, a vicious cycle.

He has been so so impressive to me through these years in the playoffs despite the team not getting results.

I think Matthews struggles in the inverse sense, when the vibe is fraught he gets a bit passive, unengaged in ways.

What exactly is the plan being drawn up to actually beat Boston? This is why I’m not calm.

    Copium and delusion.

This is not about one game. This is not just about one loss. This is not just about one bad loss. It’s about a bad loss in the most predictable, expected and familiar way possible. Three series losses to the Bruins in just over a decade, a regular season series sweep for the Bruins this year, issues with the Leafs goaltending, defence, powerplay, turnovers, superstars being useless when it actually matters, etc, that have been apparent throughout the season leading into the playoffs.

Every single thing that all of the critics and « doomers » have been saying was completely validated down to a tee. Nothing about that game was an anomaly, and there is absolutely no reason to think the rest of the series will go differently.

I’m convinced everyone saying « just one game » must be casual fans who have not been paying any attention to the team at all, because everything that went wrong was so depressingly familiar and predictable that nobody who knows anything about this team could shrug that loss off so easily.

reminder that the leafs have 1 playoff series win in the last 2 decades

The more posts I see like this the more I realize this fan base is super insecure. With good reason I suppose. Things don’t feel good.

When you wake up to go to work and you have the mentality that today is easy money, you have a good day at work. Everything clicks. When you wake up stressed to go to work, that’s when things go wrong.

The bruins wake up excited to play the leafs. Easy money. The leafs go to work stressed.

For them to win, it’s an internal issue they need to beat.

Jesus Christ man. I really wish all you armchair authors would realize it isn’t because it’s game 1. It’s because it’s every fucking time.

Every playoffs our star players go on holiday. And yes I know. Last year we made it out of the first round. I’ll organize the parade.

There’s no accountability. No grit. It’s a lackadaisical effort at best. Our entire offense was dump and chase. We took stupid penalties.

For a team that talks about commitment to excellence and being laser focused and all those great one liner sound bites we have yet to see actual change from the mediocre playoff product we get annually.

    I have spoken.

Vegas went to a final and conference finals in playoffs prior. The Leafs core have one series win. That’s the difference.

  10. neweasterner

Oh thank god. I needed this reminder. Everyone – chill out – the cup is guaranteed because Vegas lost their first game last year! Phew! Basically doesn’t matter how the leafs play here on out – it’s a guarantee. See ya at the parade. Don’t u guys get it? Everyone knows it’s game 1 – but it’s the same fixkin story as the last 10 years, underperforming in the playoffs, getting out-coached, no ability to defend, no ability to step up and hit another level of competitiveness. No one is saying that they can’t win because they lost the first game. – but it’s a trend that continues to play out year over year.

  11. RocknRollCasserole

I hate this shit so much. Remember when that totally different team built a completely different way did a similar thing last year?

No, but I DO remember this same exact team shitting the fucking bed in the exact same way every year for almost a decade. Stop trying to cope with posts like these, it’s embarrassing.

  12. Drawingsymbols

The team they played just happened to have 4 of their best players get hurt / already be hurt so ya, game 1s don’t mean all that much in modern hockey especially if your on the road still tho! Leafs will be fine if they wake up

  13. swoleder

Yeah cause jets and Boston are the same animal.

  14. southblazia

Reminder we haven’t beaten Boston in the playoffs since 1959 – it would be more of a miracle to get past them than winning a cup at this point.

  15. Trust-Fluid

I absolutely love your optimism, however given the last 57 years of the Leafs playing in the playoffs, and given the fact that their number one sniper is not playing, I stand by my prediction.

Boston will win the series in 4 straight.

I want to be wrong, but unfortunately the entire team likes getting onto the golf course early and have no desires to play in the un air-conditioned Air Canada Centre in late May or early June.

Time will tell though, Go Leafs Go!! 🙏👍😬

  16. SlapThatAce

These are the Leafs we’re talking about, there is no comeback.

  17. AustichMavarlander

    Totally the same thing. Phew

  18. 1. Vegas doesn’t have a history of not being able to perform in the playoffs.

    2. We do.

    3. People acting as if this is a one off is hilarious.

    4. I hope they flip the script!

  19. clapperssailing

They had real players built by competent mgmt and a decent coach. That helps.

  20. TorturedFanClub

Leafs played like it was a regular season game. Same shit, loosey goosey garbage. First odd man rush, a minute into the game. Goalie doesn’t make the big save. Defender looks clueless on the 2 on 1. PP is listless, predictable, they want to pass the puck into the net. Garbage. The PK is shit. Can’t get a big save, can’t clear the zone. Getting hemmed in their own end repeatedly because defenders can’t make an outlet pass, forwards don’t provide good support, giveaways etc… Outside of 34, who was just okay, the other stars were invisible or worse visible for the wrong reasons 16/44/91 all shit. And they had the 2nd best goalie on the ice, which is a common thread too. Gonna have to change many many things to get back home tied 1-1.
I don’t know if they have it in them. The team looks eerily the same as it has in previous playoffs to me.

  21. sharabhi1

Vegas had/has 6 defenders better defensively than our best defensive defenseman.
