  1. No, as part of the agreement between Alex Meruelo and the league, he gets to keep the team records and history. Ryan Smith has a clean slate.

  2. Ryan Smith for the record did say he wants a MLB team and did try to get the A’s….. not saying it will happen but just saying???

  3. I don't live in the Valley anymore but having the Coyote's leave is the problem of all potential partners that failed from city governments. Glendale dropped the ball with the Coyote's, That could still be playing in Glendale. It is now a problem for lost jobs. These sports teams bring in a lot of revenue yearly and a lot of jobs to host a single game events. It is harder to rent out a stadium nightly when there was a tenant there for 41 games a year not counting preseason or playoffs. So Those of you living in the valley still be aware of the local governments actions towards these sports teams and vote for those that actually have your community in mind to keep these revenues in your city coming in. Sports teams really do help out local governments with sales tax, transient income from travelers. And all of the valley sports teams have contributed to many and various charities and schools. With one team gone now that is a lot of lost revenue that can't be replaced in the very near future.

  4. Kendrick is a cheap ass. His threats of moving are baseless. You think if the Dbacks left another team/group wouldn't jump at the chance to come here? The spring training Mecca of the country? Get out of here. Can't wait for Kendrick to either sell or leave. And the Coyotes were run like crap for decades. I have hope in the latest ownership and think it was a smart move to sell the team to Salt Lake. Glendale had enough of that horribly run franchise and all the drama that came with it. Jobing wasn't even at 1/4 capacity for those games. These teams make a boat load of money off of publicly paid venues. Asking the public to pay more is BS. That is one thing I like about Alex Meruelo. He wants private money to pay for an arena.

  5. What is so odd and needs addressing is why so fast? The team is going to a place that will require a quick turnaround on where they will practice, how they will fix the bad configuration of the arena, plus where the team will operate out of. I don't think Mullet was the major problem with players. Was this really due to the league wanting to accelerate an arena build supported by taxpayer money in Utah that we could not get here? Also, they have 11,000 season ticket requests NOW, for something new, but let's see how many keep their tickets if they have 11+ years of no play-offs and no star players and if the arena was in Ogden instead of the SLC downtown area. What sucks more is they will benefit from Bill Armstrongs awesome rebuild and I would bet they will make numerous post season runs very soon.

  6. I don’t understand. The diamondbacks stadium is still awesome. No more taxpayer dollars to build new stadiums for billionaires. The cubs and Red Sox have stadiums over 100 years old. Why is there some automatic assumption stadiums need to be retired after 20 years? God forbid the cardinals try this too. Owners: invest your own money, not ours, into your own business like every other business in America.

  7. Dbacks need to leave Phoenix ( not Az ) and build something they own not own by the city who has no interest in maintaining. Maybe near there spring trading facility. Would love if they partner up with the casino Az tribe and build in in between the two casinos along the 101

  8. Arizona has been cursed with these inept ownership groups. Only Jerry Colangelo and Mat Ishbia have been worth a damn.

  9. Wow Dan. You've just become the next local (PHX – Arizona) blogger to sound like a whining school girl. Calling Smith an opportunistic? Utah has been interested in the NHL for years. What did you say when PHX benefited at the expense of Winnepeg??? That's what I thought.

  10. What a racket! Pro sports teams are now demanding new stadiums every 20 years. And expecting the taxpayers to foot the bill.

  11. A retail store that leases their space pays to refesh their store when they want a new look… that's the real comparison not a residential apartment

  12. Blaming the coyotes problems on Ryan Smith is hilarious! Cry me a river boomer also thanks for giving us the hockey team 😂

  13. What the hell….

We in Utah would be happy to have the D-backs as well.

Not sure Utah is ready for the NFL, but give us a couple of years.

  14. Guys, to your point, all you have to do is look at what is happening to conference realignment among collegiate sports for consolidating athletic teams. Now, it is affecting professional sports.

  15. No because Arizona wants the other sports teams except for the Phoenix Rising. But that’s supported by a growing number of people hopping over the border thanks to the President.

  16. Chase field is fine … Dbacks going no where. Coyotes were gone when they failed to pay their bills at the arena the community built for them. Simple mismanaged. DBacks are not going to get another stadium for another 20 years and they will stay where they belong.

  17. The Suns are the only Arizona team I will root for. The Cardinals can go back to St. Louis for all I care and the Dbacks can leave too if they are unhappy at Chase Field. Arizona will always have spring training anyways.

  18. Some fans don't want to go to games in some cities if the yotes were a monopoly they would not be gone
